This is NOT an adequet diet. You need to find homemade dog food recipies in order to feed this dog correctly.
Also a dog should not be getting that much grain..meat should be the mainstay of the diet.
Dogs are meat eaters, NOT grain/veggie eaters. They are designed to extract nutrition from meat proteins NOT veggie/grains.
You will need to cut down on grains/veggies and increase the meat proteins. You will also make sure the diet is balanced with the proper vitamins & minerals as well as calcium.
Your dog is spoiled and believe me she will not starve herself she will eat her food if it is insisted on. She knows if she holds out she'll get the "good" stuff.

I'm a vet tech, so I know what I'm talking about. First of all if you must feed your dog human food, stick to fruits and vegetables. A lot of dogs are actually allergic to beef so if you have too, give your dog boiled chicken breast or somthing similar. Some things you must consider are: How old is the dog? How long have you owned the dog? Have there been any previous owners? Have you tried wet as well as dry dog food? It's not uncommon for a dog or similar animal to go for a few days without food in the wild, so don't get too worked up over a day without eating. You need to keep trying to get your dog to eat a high quality dog food. Begin by mixing in a very small amount of dog food into the vegetables/chicken. Slowly add more dog food and less human food into the mix. This process may take a while, but it sounds like the best option for you.

I feed both of my dogs from the table. The barf diet is a good diet. I have large breed dogs so they eat 5 lbs raw meat and bones a day.I give them raw eggs, chicken, beef and pork.Always raw. Also to keep them full i give them a big bowl daily of cottage cheese, eggs, brown rice and a cup of plain yogurt.Dog food is a man made thing, dogs are not...before they were pets they were wild animals that hunted for food.It will not harm your dog in anyway to feed her from what nature has to offer....it also will not make her blood thirsty or sick despite the old wives tales. Also it greatly reduces the risk of bloat and other digestive problems.I started the diet bc i have one dog that's hair was falling out and once i took him off of dog food it all came back, then my female dog who is a pitbull terrier was very over weight so I took her off dog food and put her on the Barf diet...she's still a bit heavy for a pitbull(68 lbs--pre-pregnancy weight,79lbs now and almost due)but her health and energy levels are much better. She is about 57 days into her pregnancy and has more energy than when she was to fat.If you read the kibble bag it has a lot of man made things in it. If you feed raw,it cost about the same monthly(per dog)as an expensive fancy food. But is better for the dog.Buy in bulk and freeze. This saves money.I never understood how ppl could spend 1200$ on a dog then only invest 40$ a month in food.

A natural diet is best from the butcher. Dogs are carnivores.
There is a lot of rubbish in canned (junk) food and dry.
The supposed research into commercial foods has mainly been funded by guess who? The commercial dog food companies-right!!!!!
Stick to fresh for your best friend.
If a guest comes to your home do you feed them out of a can? No! Show respect for your animal by giving them the very best

If you are going to continue feeding your dog human food you need to buy Nutri-Cal. It is a high calorie dietary supplement for dogs. It gives them the proper nutrition. Also try feeding your dog cherrios they help the dog gain weight. Be careful with this problem in small dogs because if their blood sugar level gets too low then they will have seizures.

It would probably be better to give her dog food rather than human food, but if she won't eat that this could be a problem. My dog did the same thing for a while and what helped for me was to put a little bit of gravy on her dog food and mix it up. She loves the taste of gravy, so she ate it up real fast. I hope this helps! Good luck!

A friend of mine had the same problem with his dog. They kept changing her food and she just wouldn't eat. The vet told them they were just feeding her too much and she wasn't hungry. Maybe you should cut back on her food. If you let her get used to only eating people food that is all she will want. Who's the boss in that house anyway.

If it's a daily occurrence and she's not eating ANY of her dog food, then yes, it's bad. She isn't getting the proper nutrients that only dog food can supply. At a store, such as walmart or kmart, they have this special dog food gravy that you can squeeze on the food and it flavors it up. They have chicken, beef and bacon I think. Try that.
Is your dog older? Do you only buy hard dog food? If she is old, or if you only buy hard dog food, try the soft dog food. I use Ol' Roy's biscuits. And my dog eats it when she feels like it.
Good luck!

What is your idea of expensive food? The best food is Innova and is only $30 - $40 and is really good (best being Innova, eagle pack, chicken soup....holistic foods in general.)
If you mean Iams...then you aren't feeding well anyway.
Stop giving her human food unless you feed raw. Raw is the best of the best with the only problem being how much it costs. Here is a good site for you

I plan on raw feeding my dogs. Its a good choice. Maybe your dog is trying to tell you someting

every now and then I let me dogs share a hot dog, like we went on a train and I bought them a boiled hot dog to share as a special treat. I wouldn't give my dog hot dogs every day, they have a very high sodium content and they aren't healthy for you dog in the long run. But I don't see the harm in a once in a while snack maybe once a month or so but not everyday.
