Tell him to take the imodium as prescribed on the packet, make sure he drinks plenty of water as diarreah dehydrates you very quickly.

He may also have crampy tummy pains, nausea, feel feverish and lose his appetite.

Diarrhoea is a symptom and can be acute or chronic.
Acute diarrhoea is usually caused by a viral infection or a bacterial infection and affects almost everyone from time to time. It usually clears up in a couple of days and is not serious.

Chronic diarrhoea may be a result of a more serious disorder and should always be investigated by your doctor.

It does sound like he has been silly with the senokot though!

Hope everything goes ok for you.

It's not worth taking imodium. The time it takes for imodium to work the diohrrea will probably be ending unless it is extremely persistant. After the two hour drive and going to the toilet it'll probably end.
The most important thing is for him to have a lot of water so he doesn't dehydrate.

If his diohrrea carrys one for more than a week then send him to your doctor - Though I doubt it's anything other than the senokot.

Senokot are for constipation, (opposite problem!).
Immodium should help but of course it is not necessarily suitable for everyone. Also it is not recommended to take it straight after other medication. I recommend he rest a while, drink plenty of fluids and maybe take some immodium in a couple of hours if it hasn't cleared up, as long as he isn't knowingly allergic to it! If the problem persists tomorrow then he should see a doctor, to rule out any more serious possibilities.

He could take isabgol.....it is also known as flea seed but is just the husk of a seed and if he puts a teaspoon of this in a some yoghurt and mix it to make it easier to swallow or in some fruit juice it will work almost instantaneously. It is a seed which grows only in India and is used in India but you can get it in Boots chemist and goes under the name of Flymogol or something like that. Plain yoghurt also helps settle the stomach.

He can take some Immodium and tell him to drink some milk or eat a little cheese. That should stop up the works for a bit. Then tell him to think ahead next time!!

Good old tip , and tried and trusted remedy for the squits and upset stomach. If you have "arrowroot" powder in kitchen cupboard, mix two tablespoons in a glass with half a pint of warmish water, drink straight down and within about 30 minutes it has taken effect. Stops the trots and belly ache...... magic stuff !

Pepto bismol chewable tablets seem to work great, and are safe to take, will help with the nausea also.
The immodium liquid tastes bad, and may increase the nausea.

It tickles me that a supposed doctor doesn't know how to spell Imodium!

Immodium should work fine. He should still be prepared to stop along the way, though, as sometimes more than one dose is needed.
