my other kitten always bites or claws me or my other half but never does it to our 8 month old son even though he pulls him about and grabs him, do you think cats can tell the difference and act different???

VERY MUCH YES, its not advisable to have pets (barring goldfish, caged birds, gerbils etc) anywhere near small children, the cat may become jealous or innocently lie on the child for warmth or be attracted by the smell of baby milk.

Yes. Our cats are much more understanding with our 10 month old son. They let him pull and poke and prod on them. We've made it a point to handle our cats a lot and to socialize them.

yes. we recently had a baby over and the cat was more cautios but it would still go up to the baby. But be careful because babies like to pull the cat's fur.

I think they definitely can. If my cat is being playful and I touch his stomach he'll often scratch my wrist and hand and it can hurt quite a lot lol. However, my 1 year old niece has often approached him when he's in quite the same mood and actually hit him, but he just either ignores her or makes no fuss and walks away.

My cat does the same but the reason is because he's scared he'll get another hiding off the baby

Our cats will bite me and my brother but not my sister or her boyfriend.

Some people say cats hate babies and try to suffocate them. I don't think so. I have a cat that sometimes sits over my nose just to be close.

i had a baby 5 wks ago and im fed up of people givin me advice or moaning about my cats, they stay away from her but if im holdin the baby and they come up to me they are really gentle around her, they even have give her a kiss on top of her head, but they attack me and my partner when they want to play,so i think yes, they do act differently around babies.

yes i think they know that children are different from adults and need to be tolerated more! i have a 3 year old son and a cat and a dog. both are extremely tolerant of my boisterous child.

Cats have the electomagnitic field normally associated with perfect creatures, as they are perfect. So are babies. Game recognize game.
