he could have something stuck in the pad of his foot, or could have strained or sprained his back foot. You would most likely know if he had seriously injured it, because he would be wining and licking that leg. Take a look at the pad of his foot and check for splinters.. glass.. check between his toes too. Also, check his toenails.. if one got broken off, it could be sensative and he could be trying to avoid stepping on it. If he looks ok, just watch him for a bit. usually, within 24 hours.. they will start walking on a "strained" leg again. If not..or if he starts to show discomfort... its time to take him to the vet.

A vet would have to do xrays and a complete exam on his leg to tell what is exactly wrong with your dog.One of my dogs had a bad sprang, I had to get xrays which showed nothing plus take the dog to a specialist before I got a diagnosis and medication for her. Good luck and Happy New Year.

Okay, it's pretty much impossible to tell you what is wrong without more details, and/or seeing the dog. It could be so many things!!!! If you are truly concerned for the health and well being of your dog, take him to your vet.

hi
it could be a number of things like wobblers, limes disease hip dysplasia, luxating patellas you should take him to vet to get a proper diagnosis. Sometimes a new collar makes them hold their back leg up cause they have theat need to scratch feeling but go to vet just to be safe.

Has he always walked like that or is it only recently? He may have broken it or hurt it in some way.

He could have arthritis, check his dewclaws to see if they are turned under, have his hip checked, or if there has been any type of injury then he could have a splintered bone.
