it's fine to have a preference, but i've no respect for anyone who says that short hair is only for boys, or that all short-haired girls are confused about their sexuality. you might as well make sweeping generalizations about blondes or straight-haired girls or women who wear barrettes. a hair style is simply a hair style -- an expression of taste, not gender identity.

Some girls can work a short cut. Not so short where your gender comes into question, however.

As for long, not so long where its down to your butt and beyond to the point you resemble Cousin It from the Addams Family.

whatever looks good on them. some girls look good with really short guy hair. if you are a girl then see what looks good on you and dont be afraid to ask people. i just dont like the long hair that goes down to your feet.
