Im not going to say that abstaining from sex turns people into perverts but its not quite the same as abstaining from alcohol. Sex is something everyone will eventually desire. Alcohol isnt. Sex is more or less a natural instinct, alcohol isnt. Many times when someone is told they CANNOT do something it makes them want to do it even more. I know it's really a small percentage of pedophiles in the church, however it does make one wonder what reasons a man has to forsake natural human relations when even if he is extremely religious, is not a sin to marry. Sometimes it might be to cover such wrong desires already within him. I dont think taking the vow of celebacy causes such things, but I do think it might attract individuals who have ill desires.

Bull crap anyone who tell you that if full of it. Drinking alcohol is what makes some people alcoholics. Abstaining from alcohol never hurt anyone. Abstaining from sex descent turn people into perverts ether that is bull crap. Nor does having normal sex. Alcohol and sex addiction are two different things completely. xx

the act of abstaining does not turn people into either alcoholics or perverts. Choice does.

No to your first question! Abstaining from sex turns people into perverts? I don't agree with that. Although yea it does prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Actually, in a way, yes, prohibition from alcohol ultimately encourages use, similar behaviors are often witnessed with drugs, when they are allowed freely, people use them less than when they're forbidden. So while I support roman-catholicism, priests feeling restricted by it and like it isn't a personal choice can have horrible concequences.
Of course, this isn't to say that all priests feel like they are obligated to do it, it was their choice, and they are free to leave the priesthood. But some are likely to feel they are obligated to stay, but repressed by the doctrine, and this is a cause for bad things... This is admittedly a small proportion, and doesn't make for a larger trend in the religion.

Actually yes, it is fairly obvious to anyone who is not from the US that having an age limit of 21 tends to lead to way more problems with alcohol than countries where children start drinking with their parents in their early teens.

What people are you talking about, one's with no self control. I admire someone who knows what they want and so should you. What you feel matters, not them, they don't walk in your shoes. Be proud of what you believe.
