how do you increase record times on a dvd-r mine say recordable 120 min but package said upto 8 hrs record?

Is the 8 hours for the whole package? If you got a package of 4 and each had 120 minutes then it would record 8 hours total on all 4 discs. You cannot increase the amount of info that one disc will hold.
