I think you may find the Mormon genealogy site very helpful. You are probably already aware that life events (birth, marriage and death) were not recorded until 1837 in the U.K, the Mormon site seem to have just about everything covered. The address is www.famiysearch.org/eng it is completely free and is excellent for all records. You can however do a free search on ancestry.co.uk but the records begin in 1837 unless you are looking for a marriage then you could use the Pallot index, that's excellent as well. Good luck.

I have found an amazing amount about people that I knew little about on: www.ancestry.co.uk it covers Ireland too. I'm adopted and have in one week reached back to great grandparents and their family (including Ireland) good luck!
PS. Not quite sure why some mean spirited person has been giving some of us the thumbs down, puts me off bothering to answer any questions. I mean...was my answer offencive?

I would look up the person's birth record online by using a genelogy program - family tree. Then via the web- contact the National Archives of Ireland with your requested information.
