It matters to God bcos you are destroying yourself slowly & you mean a lot to God bcos He created you. He wouldn't want you to harm yourself in any way or harm others in any way cos i think smoking is murder as second hand smoke gets in the noses of other non smokers plus you also kill yourself. Drinking and driving can also kill others and yourself not to mention you lose your senses when you drink & start beating up other people.

God does say its not good to be drunk but to have a drink of alcohol is alright. There are no mention of smoking in the Bible and since people DID smoke back then too, I think it would be mentioned if it was a concern of God's.

Smoking isn't very healthy. Jesus drank wine, but wasn't a drunkard, as some tried to say, as he ate & drank with sinners to talk with them, like a friend to them. Addictions to either tobacco or alcohol can be very costly, monetarily & socially. If you care about your kids, if you have some, or or married think about if your spouse or family could suffer from it. Love is a great enabler. Still, as every seasoned christian knows, change often takes time. Go day by day. No-one ever gets so perfect in everything that they can boast to GOD, because GOD is always able to point out their present shortcomings(sins) to them, if need be, to deliver them from self-pride. -- GOD isn't interested in merely knocking us down. He is very creative & constructive, although just; for example, if you had a habit of murdering, I doubt He'd be too "uncondemning" about that.

Drinking Alcohol isn't a sin, but getting drunk is. Smoking isn't a sin unless your hurting yourself or another person. But I do believe everything we do matters to God.

Yes it does, and no it doesn't lol.

What I mean is that if you are a heroin addict and clinging desperately to scripture to help you (with hopefully a good rehab program to back you up!) then no, God doesn't care if you smoke. You have bigger things to worry about.

Eventually however, He will impress upon you that it is time to stop those things too.

It's sort of like dressing up for church. When people first come to church, we honestly don't care what they wear (assuming it's legal lol) as long as they show up. But a woman who has been a Christian for 30 years like me is expected to have a deeper insight into modestly dressing for church.

Hope that makes sense :)

In my religion, smoking and drinking alcohol are personal choices and our deities aren't concerned about those matters.

Yes, I do believe it matters. I say this because if you look in what Christians call the Old Testament, many of the Laws set down strict observations pertaining to what enters your body & having to do with health. Even the priests had the fat removed from their meat offerings. G-d is definitely concerned with our health. We need to be wise stewards of this body He gave us.

I think as long as you take care of your body God will be happy. That means not overdoing it to the point of hurting your liver or lungs. Cigarettes with additives are probably a bad choice for that reason.

Our bodies were given to us, they were given to us to take care of them and keep them safe, thus not exposing our bodies to toxins and such. Research had shown that liquor does cause a lot of health problem regardless to other social problems. When God put laws, he put put to have limits on us-humans- so we can live in peace and to respect God's laws therefor He knew what is best for us, therefore it does matter to Him.

I don't drink very much, once in a while, I may have one or two beers, or some wine, as long as you have everything under complete control, I don't think a few would mater.
