Cats are the most perfect creation on planet Earth. I say this because, like women, they are capable of extreme sweetness and extreme violence. Your cat is full of the power of the universe; she is excited to be alive and doesn't know how to express it. Try to anticipate her feelings. Play with her. Talk to her. Take cat naps with her. Discipline her when you have to. Give her tons of love.

...we had a psycho kitty that did the same thing.. she would hide, stalk us.. attack our legs (litterally biting and scratching until we bleed) and then would run and hide again. If she was in our laps, she would randomly freak out.. start biting our hands.. then go back to purring and sleeping. We had to give her away to our friend because when we had our first child and she started to stalk him and bit him... and I couldnt let her do that to him.
We adopted her from a shelter.. and although they didnt mention she had this behavior.. I think it could have been from the home she was in before ours. She was only a year old when we gave her to my friend... so I thought it was just kitten behavior.. but my friend who has her now said she still does it.. she climbs up peoples legs and backs now too. scary cat.

I've had cats like that. They're ticking time bombs, don't know when they'll strike next! I read somewhere that they attack while being affectionate because they wanna show everyone, including other cats, that they're still tough. Tough love, I guess.
