Intern under an experienced planner in your area
Post an ad on craigslist to do pro-bono or very affordable work to build your portfolio

Yes,i got my info out of abrides magazine,i took a course thru the mail,completed lessons and mailed them back,took test and received my certificate to be a wedding consultant/planner,if you do choose to pursue this career,i can tell you ,it is fun ....it's hard work the money is great,your best advertising is by word of mouth ,by doing a great job,and being affordable..good luck
