I say stay in.
You get ripped off on new years eve, you have to pay before you can get in anywhere, then they charge obscene amounts of money for drinks and to top it all you have to wait hours for a taxi and when you finally get lucky they charge you a fortune.

Depends on the options really. In the country I love walking down to the local pub and seeing the new year in with family and people I know, and then weaving a wobbly walk home under the stars. In the city, unless there's somewhere good to which I can walk, I'd prefer to stay in with my beloved, a bottle of champagne, and write up my journal, appraising the passing year.
If going out, don't drive or get in a car - few are sober.

If you lived in our City you would decide to stay in, why? because it is safer than going out on account of a lot of violence and shootings that have been going on. We used to celebrate the New Year with a gathering with the whole family, but thru the years we have decided to be on the safe side and stay at home.

It depends what you want to do, I have four children and prefer staying in with my husband and kids having fun with them playing card games or board games. It also depends where you live, if its cold you might as well stay in and party with your friends, If you live in a warm country it can be nice going out.

I would say you are perhaps better off stay in and watch whats going on out there on your tv, pretty sure you would not be the only one.

Of course it depends on your personality, but personally I like having a small group of friends over at my home. It's cheaper, safer, and more comfortable. And if my friends drink they can sleep at my place comfortably, and we can all have fun without worrying about all the drunk drivers and other idiots out there on the roads.

Depends where you live. If it's cold, stay in. If it's warm, go out. You'll grow old and have to stay in soon enough !
