How can I transfer photo files from my pc to the memory card in my camera. I understand that it is time consuming but can be done.

Most digital cameras come with a usb cable and a proprietary software. Download the software and use the cable provided. However you can use any generic card reader to read the camera's memory card. Go to the lnk below and you have a few options while you are there :
1. Download a free Digital Photography companion software called Picasa - helps you tremendously in storing, organizing, retreiving and editing.
2. Download a free Image resizer program called Visualizer Resizer
3. Log into a free service to backup your digital images and share it with friends called Photomax
4. Take a look or purchase a Photomax USB card reader that read most cards and a unique feature that allows auto uploading of images to the website.

Any computer shop will sell you a card reader that you can plug into the USB socket in your computer. This will allow quick transfer of pictures, especially if you have USB 2.
I don't know where you are, but here in Ireland they can be got for less than €30.
