I'm going to be buying a car soon.. I have a budget of about 12,000 and I'm looking into VW's. I want a truck, but I know there are no new VW trucks. I have herd they are exceptionally easy to fix and maintain.
Is it worth buying an older VW considering fixing problems and such, or is it better to go with a newer model VW?

I am not biased against VW's . (I have had a 70 n 73 bug, 74 van,62 n 72 station wagen, 80,82 n 84 diesel rabbits) but a pickup I would go with a Toyota period. Just not enough experience(VW factory that is) in making those things and probably are gutless like all the others. Maybe easier to fix, but that means it broke.
Think about it.

They are pricey to fix, but if you think you can swing a new VW I'd go for it. If you want to wait I've heard the VW is working with GMC to build a truck....heard it from a VW dealer. I'm a VW fan and think that the quality and driving experience of their cars is supreb. If you want space to haul stuff look at the Golf or the GTI. I've got an 06 GTI and can't get over how much I can stick in that hatchback with the back seat down.

My wife bought a new Beetle, 2001. It is very dependable has alot of room and it fun to drive. Im seriuosly looking for a new Passat. VW makes a very good car. Part prices arent that bad, a new serpentine belt cost me $20, I did a full tune up and put on a new belt.

I am a V.W. owner from YEARS back, and I can tell you from experience, they are easy to fix (the older ones, anyway) but they need constant tinkering, and unless you've been used to this kind of car/driver love/hate relationship, don't go there. The p.u.'s are great, but they're getting pretty hard to find, and parts are harder. If you want a truck, a daily driver, you might consider something more practical. GM? that would be my second choice...good luck

Frankly, I'd avoid VW altogether, but to each his own I guess. A lot of reviewers are giving thumbs down to VW these days.

this is about 50/50........ Volkswagen got here up with the VW Beetle, which ranks alongside the Ford Mustang & Austin Mini even as it is composed of mythical classic automobiles (even if it change into in accordance to a layout by Adolf Hitler)........... and also invented the nice and cozy Hatchback, with the VW golfing GTi contained in the 1970's & 1980's. Volkswagen are literally also responsible for designing & construction the Bugatti Veyron, at the moment the global's fastest production vehicle.......... and so that they own Lamborghini at the moment (so responsible for the Murcielago + Gallardo).......... and intensely last time I checked i imagine in addition they own Rolls-Royce now, too. even as up till the mid-1990's even as they got here out with the 850 T5, Volvo were oftentimes called being owned by boring human beings noted as Ken, who went on caravan holiday journeys (with a lengthy queue of site visitors behind as he towed it alongside behind the Volvo)...... even as their automobiles were many times refered to as Bricks. The 850 T5 grew to change right into a first decision for the British Police stress to apply for his or her Armed reaction gadgets to attend to such issues as economic company Robberies, and different incidents concerning firearms, because of the vehicle having a huge carrying potential + a suitable speed of very nearly 150mph.

Get a VW Cabrio. Super cute! Don't get a beetle, they're ugly and overrated. You could get two cabrios for that price!

I would rather get a Honda or a Toyota, better reliability and the repairs are a very few and far between.
