For a pup, especially a male one, humping marks its dominance over other dogs. The reason ur pup humps a teddy (or anything else for that matter) is to show that he is King. It is harmless, but can be quite irritating if it starts doing it to visitors. My 2 male dogs hump on each other all the time to show the other who the Alpha male is (who is the dominant leader of the pack). Hope I helped :)

jeesh - this is a bit self-explanatory, isn't it?
and it is not 'ITs' teddy: Ur pup is overwhelmingly-likely Male.
dogs, like humans, are male or female; not neutral-gender.
even a desexed-M dog is not 'neutral', nor are they F -
they're still M, just with less-testosterone than an intact-M.
i'm betting that Ur pup is M, and he's masturbating: it's an extremely-common behavior, and even MORE common in Ms between 5 and 7 mos.
unless U intend to breed Ur pup as an adult, this is a good time to strongly suggest desexing: this mounting and masturbating behavior is very easily transposed to HUMANS, and is not only unwelcome to the mountee, it can readily become highly aggressive and downright dangerous.
i've worked with more than one under-40# dog that had given someone(s) stitches to remember him by, or a vivid scar, when they tried to peel the little blighter off their leg, arm, or even their child...
this is far from funny, as both adults and kids can be badly hurt by one of these spoiled-brat serial-sexual-assault dogs.
U may think the behavior in Ur pup is 'cute', or 'funny', but it's definitely NOT a behavior to encourage or even allow. it leads to a dog thinking they're in control, and getting much too pushy and bossy.
MOUNTING is not by any means all about sex: it's also a very common gesture of dominance used by bratty or bossy dogs, of either sex! the dog they mount may or may not tolerate such a domineering trespass, and Ur mounting-pup may end up with a bite or a fight on his paws... and U'll have a vet bill, or maybe two!

Your puppy isn't doing any harm, for goodness sake he's a puppy, experimenting. Contrary to popular belief, most dogs don't want to dominate us. They're only too pleased for us to be leader of the pack, and take the pressure off them. It makes me so cross that some people still have the archaic belief that we have to "put the dog in it's place". Yeah, right, showing our dominance!

Because that's what puppies do. You might hide the teddy when guests come over.

He's a horny little fellow, I think they do it because they are trying to grow up a little too fast.
One day I was at this animal sell and this huge dog was humping this other big dog right in public, everyone saw it and I couldn't keep myself from laughing. It was hilarious! I just thought I'd share that with you..

That is a dog thing. he may stop eventually or he may not...My little Yorkie had a Mickey Mouse doll that he liked to hump...It was the funniest thing to watch, but we had to throw Mickey away finally after he began to fall apart and get sticky!...

Our male dog is fixed, and he exhibited this behavior. The vet said that he was showing dominance over the stuffed toy. It's normal biological behavior, and you should never let the dog do that to any human, because they are not supposed to be dominant to humans.

dogs hump for several reasons.. one is to show dominance... one is cuz.. hes horny. Are you planning to get the dog spayed/neutered? Often times, the problem goes away completely once they are snipped..
