I am 32 years and was home-schooled from 2nd - 11 grade. I was asked all the time stupid questions. There is not right or wrong way to answer. I find most people who ask those questions have already had a mind set to which they refuse to change. I had a great experience and I greatly respect my parents for their decision to keep me at home. I had a lot of opportunity to do things that most traditional students didn't. I did a lot of volunteering and my mother joined the local groups that supported home schooled children. I did start attending school Educationally I was ahead of every one else. At this point in my life I feel that being home-schooled fostered a different way of thinking for me. I am driven and extremely goal oriented, there are so many ways to solve a puzzle. I feel I was handed a valuable life skill. I great attribute my at home experience with my success in life . Join your local groups, don't try to defend your decision people are always going to ask why and question you. Not all home schooled children are unattractive although I do understand that is a stigma placed on children who are home schooled. Keep your chin up and be excited when some one asks you questions they will reflect the attitude you give off!

I'm in grade 9 and I'm homeschooled. I get asked the question, "Oh don't you get bored?" and "I see... how do you make friends?" I generally answer, "No, I don't get bored, and I make friends the same way everyone else does."
And then there are the people that ask, "Oh why would you choose to be homeschooled?" and then I say. "Because you learn better, I can work on what I need to work on and move on when I understand it instead of just doing it and not understanding or learning anything." I'm not sure why people have such a terrible opinon of homeschoolers, I guess because some people are just so close minded that they won't accept anything other than what they know, and most people have never been homeschooled so they don't know anything about it they just judge it unfairly.

I know somebody who seems to get most often, "You're homeschooled?!" then the kids ignore her after that, even if they were fine with her before finding out she was homeschooled.
As a parent, the question I get most often is, "What made you decide to do that?" or "How does that work?" Most often I don't get asked anything; people just make some comment.
I don't think my kids have been asked anything. Except my daughter, who was once asked if she liked it. She's only 9, though.

The assertion is an over generalization, all public college little ones do no longer hate all homestead knowledgeable little ones. it truly is in simple terms some take place to be vocal approximately their thoughts. And there are some homeschooled little ones which will handle public schooled little ones with disdain. some human beings will ridicule every physique that isn't comparable to them. that's usually a demonstration that they are insecure of their very own identities, so as that they decide directly to pull others all the way down to cause them to experience bigger. you will locate considered one of those habit between any 2 communities.

No one really asks me any questions after they find out my children are homeschooled. I get the question, "why aren't you in school?" a lot, but I respond, "we homeschool" and it's left at that. No one really has anything bad to say about it (well, except my inlaws worrying that my kids will be "slow").

I used to be homeschooled. People always asked me whether I did school in my pajamas and whether I got to sleep in. I told them that it was like any other school, I got up at 7 p.m, started school and if I was lucky I finished by noon and that I got dressed like any other normal person would for school. They were normally pretty nice about it, occasionally you get people that treat you like you're an alien or something.

I've found relatives asking my children to read something to them to make sure they are literate! Sheesh! I just post their Iowa Test Scores in our schoolroom to show they test above their grade level and don't say a word.
