They would have to spend a whole year with the nastiest, fattest woman that could be found and have sex with her 3 times a day at least. lol

I am probably gonna get some bad feed back on this, but oh well I feel it is the truth.
One of the things that people say is bad about Islam is there touch punishment. But it works and keeps people in line and the punishment fits the crime.
The reason so many people cheat is because they can get away with it. Yeah they may loose a marriage, but if they cheated they obvious don't care about that marriage in the first place.
In Islam if you cheat and get caught by 4 witnesses then you are to be stoned. But if you are not caught you should repent to God and strive never to do it again.
Marriages are very strong in Islam and the divorce rate is very low. Divorce is allowed but hated by God. If you feel that you really don't want to be with this person then try and come to some kind of agreement to stay married if that doesn't work then divorce. Cheating is no solution.
All the laws of Islam are to try and stop the problem before it starts. If you know that you could be stoned for cheating it may stop you in your tracks. You see how well the other laws like alimony work right. It doesn't faze them people still cheat.

Ideally, there should be natural consequences at all times. Not always easy to come up with things, but perhaps community service? Like Parents without Partners, or Big Bothers/Sisters? Some place where there'd be a likelyhood of coming face to face with the realities and the effects it can have on families?

NONE. That should never come up in mans courts. Some people cheat just because it is in their nature and they could not be faithful if their life depended on it. Others cheat because of a bad marriage and the way their spouse treats them. Never, never ever should any court ever legislate a law on cheating on your spouse.
Besides we can thank the good Mr. clinton for doing what he did while in office because that will ensure that this country will never have any law against cheating. Thank you Bill.
Oh by the way in case you are wondering, I am very faithful to my wife of 14 years. I did cheat on my first wife one time in 19 years, but I got weak from her constant fussing at me and telling me that no other woman would have me and she dared me 19 years to try to have an affair becasuse no one else would want me. she changed her tune when i did cheat and then started flirting with other women in front of her and I proved her wrong.
I know I was wrong, but I have forgiven myself and this time I made a good choice in picking my mate.

I'm not sure what I would do.
Stoning does sound a little drastic. Although some probably would deserve that.
I'm thinking more along the lines of public humiliation, combined with whatever the betrayed spouses little heart desires, and that part would be immediate upon being caught.

Stoning is a bit harsh. Consider that an exclusive relationship like monogamous marriage is artificial and unnatural for humans, especially male humans. Consider that in abusive relationships women are typically MUCH more abusive than men. When man stray from a relationship it is most often true that the woman drove him away.
Stoning the guy won't solve your problem. A better solution is to either get over it or get it over with.

I wouldnt want to take the chance to punish others, simply becasue I would be judging them, and trying to take the Ten Commandments into my own hands. Its God's job. More people should let God handle situations like those. It's the exact same thing as Dont commit adultery. So i wouldnt even create a consequence!

I see you write at a school point, and clearly can study properly......lady chum what are you puzzled approximately. he's no longer husband cloth for YOU. you pick a guy that is conscious his Biblical, criminal, and ethical place interior the marriage. He can not be an efficient loving husband/chief (1Cor7:3) cheating on his spouse, and not working. it truly is in simple terms backwards. Now in case you experience this fool is worth that complication i might recommend non secular marriage counseling, otherwise, seek for and come across a real guy.

Nature takes care of this for us ... Aids, veneral disease to name a couple. Also, the child that almost always comes as the result of cheating has to be cared for.
Additionally, the spouse loses all trust in them. It's sort of like that country song ... "Then what? Whatcha gonna do when the new wears off and the old shines thru, and it ain't really love and it ain't really lust and you ain't anyone anybody's gonna trust ... then what?"

i wouldnt pass a law like that. b/c sometimes the man/woman isnt doing their job right thats usually what causes people to cheat.
but if i had to pass the law i would make it a crime for them to marry again! and they would have to pay 2x as much child support (if there is kids involved). and the cheater would have to pay for the victims life expenses for 1 year. thats after 1 month in jail and after he is put on the fomt page of the news paper with the head line "DO NOT DATE THIS MAN"

I guess Jail time, heavy fines and, they couldn't have custody of the children.
