Purple, hmmm. You are that kind of girl huh? Well, good for you. You can go to any discount store like Walmart and find these great new hair color glosses. They simply add a highlight to your existing hair color. I think L'Oreal makes it. They come in all shades, including a purple-ly color. Revlon also makes this shade called "Light Plum Brown" and it only costs $2.97 at Walmart. It's a light brown base color with lots of plum highlights in it. If you have thick long hair, I suggest buying 2 boxes of hair color, one won't be enough. If you want something more punk and extreme, then go to your nearest punk shop. We have a place here called Ya's Ya's. I don't know if it's a franchise or not, but they sell funky hair color, nose rings, band t-shirts, stuff like that. If you are not much experienced in doing hair color on yourself, get a friend to help, or just go to a salon. Call one and tell them what you want and ask if they can do it. Good luck.

for permanent you need to bleach 1st. with 20vol hydrogen peroxide for 40 mins... wash out bleach no conditioner.. dry hair and apply purple tint.. leave on for desired colour effect... the longer you leave it the darker it gets...
for semi permanent: buy a bottle of colour from the shop... follow instructions on the packaging....

I'd say you're a moron to attempt coloring your hair any unnatural color by yourself.
Purple is a crap color anyways, and I wouldn't want to look like a clown.
Go to a salon, or risk dying your hair a bright violet.

To see if you would even like it, you should use purple kool-aid. It washes out easy. Try this before you do it permanently and that way you can wash it out if you mess up since you're doing it yourself.

I've never personally dyed my hair, but all my friends suggest Loreal. You can get it done at a salon, but it is an unnatural color so it will fade.

it depends on what color your hair is now... you can buy color hair dyes at any beauty supply store.. but if you put purple on brown hair, its going to be very subtle

Most often you need to bleach it first. Punky color and other semi permanent colors work great but you have to re-apply because it fades
