These are some very good answers;
thank you to all 8 answerers who informed me that I can be photographed with glasses.
(Glad to know that a little smile is allowed)
I would not look like "me" without a smile and my glasses!

Your passport photo should be a good representation of how you normally look. Normal, natural expressions (ex. smiles) are allowed. Glasses are allowed as long as they are not dark, tinted shades and as long as glare from the flash is not over your eyes.

Glare can happen when the lens of the camera is parallel to the lens of your glasses. Therefore; to avoid glare tilt your glasses down so that they are at an angle.

And your best bet is go to a real photo processing place like Ritz, Wolf, MotoPhoto, or a photo studio (not Walmart or the drug store)! Photos that don't meet requirements can cause your application to go into the suspense file, and we don't want that to happen!

Glasses In Passport Photo

2016-12-28 06:42:21 · answer #2 · answered by ? 3 · 0 0

it depends on whether there is any glare on the glasses or if they are dark glasses or have any tinting, particularly if they darken due to a flashbulb. if you normally wear glasses they would like to have them on if possible, but they create any problems with the photo, there is no prohibition to just taking them off. this link may have further info:

Can eyeglasses be worn for the photo?
Eyeglasses worn on a daily basis can be worn for the photo. However, there should be no reflections from the eyeglasses that obscures the eyes.

I just got my passport in May, and according to the application, you cannot wear any headgear or sunglasses unless there is a religious reason why you wear them, (if this is the case, you must provide documentation of the religious practice). For eyeglasses, because you can still see your eyes in a good photograph, it will probably be ok to wear them. Just make sure you have a picture with no glare, getting the best view of your eyes. And, if you are in doubt, take two prints, one with eyeglasses, and one without them, and ask the guy at the post office. I hope this helps.

You can wear your eyeglasses.
My passport photo was taken with my glasses on.
That they are allowed is clearly spelled out in the link below from the US state department.

You can not only weatr glasses, you can smile too. If you don't believe me send me a message and I will send you a scanned copy of my photo page in my passport. This is a new one too taken in July 2006.

I had my picture done at the post office & the clerk rejected the first photo because of glare, but the second (also w/glasses) was fine. Try to have it done at a Walgreens or CVS so you can try to get a decent shot - I look like a stoned criminal in mine.

I believe you can wear them, but if they are tinted, they must be removed. Also, if there is a glare on the picture (from the flash hitting the glasses) and your eyes are NOT visible, the picture will be rejected. I always recommend my customers take their glasses off for a more natural look
