For the past few weeks, my jaw has been locking up at the most random times. It takes me a while to get it back in place, and I don't know what's wrong. Do I have arthritis or something else?

first of all, you do NOT have lockjaw, also known as tetanus. This is an acute disease brought on by a nasty bacterial poison which causes the jaw muscles to go into tetany, a medical term for intense and continuous spasm. You'd be in intensive care in a hospital if you had lockjaw.
You have a disarticulated jaw joint, kind of like when someone's shoulder goes out of the socket, only its your jaw.
See your doctor, who may refer you to an orthopedist.
good luck and all

TMJ - Tempo Mandibular Joint syndrome.

Basically what happens is that your teeth are out of alignment (or neuro-occlusion) and that causes your jaw to "sit funny" which aggravates the disk that slips between the bones to ease in the opening of your jaw. When the disk becomes inflamed it won't just slip in normally and can cause your jaw to lock ope, lock closed or only open a very small bit. It can also be aggravated by grinding your teeth at night.

The best way to help, without expensive night-guard appliances from the DDS is to go to the store and purchase a sports guard mouthpiece .. the kind you boil and fit to our own "bite" to protect your teeth during sports. Follow the directions and make one then sleep with it at night. IT should give your jaw enough time to rest and relax at night and that will help the swelling and thereby the problem.

go see a cranial sacral therapist and ask if he or she want to relase your TMJ (temporo mandibular joint)
please adress your emotions by finding help from a person you can trust.
Your brain processes your emotions energeticcally through the jaw to the rest of your body.
Exhale and move your jaw comfortably down
Inhale and move it comfortably up
reverse after doing this for a minute
into
exhale out and move up
inhale and move down
Do this in a safe space being relaxed and at eaze
sitting on a chair
it releases powerful emotions
Inhale life exhale fear

I don't think you have arthritis or anything of that sort but hey,I'm no doctor. Do you chew gum all the time? That use to make my jaw real sore.

I think you need to see a Dentist. Perhaps you have a mild form of lock jaw which can be addressed if acted upon quickly.
