I don't mean a picture of it in a book, but at the Louvre. I sort of got to see her. When I went though there was such a crowd around her that I was glad I am 5'10". If you have been there, was it like that for you also?

Yes, I was surprised at it's size also.

The glass case is bullet proof, isn't it?

I've seen it twice. You're right, there's always a huge crowd standing around it. The rooms surrounding the Mona Lisa have some of the best artwork at the Louvre, I really like that era and concept they use there. Not sure what she has to do with all the Jesus-themed things and Rome's history, but I guess they had to put her somewhere. Did you do the thing where everywhere you walk she seems to follow you? Very eerie. I hope to make it again someday, the Louvre is an awesome venue, if one hasn't made the trip, do it!

I went to Paris about 3 years ago and we went to the Louvre specifically to see the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. We had to wait in a huge queue to see the Mona Lisa and everyone was ushered along so you only had a minute or so (if that) to see it. I must admit I was a bit disappointed. I knew it was small but to see it in real life was a bit of an anti-climax. Perhaps if we'd had more time to study it and appreciate it it would have been better. For me, though, I loved the Venus de Milo. I love the idea of things so beautiful and old being so well preserved and still there for us to appreciate 2000 years on.

yes, and it was the same thing-a crowd
I got up in one of the little benches and got to see it, it was covered with a glass case....it might not even be the real one but an exact replica, does it really matter? lol

Yes, I could only see it from a distance. It didn't bother me any because I still don't know why it is so important, It wasn't better or worse than any other painting of that time period.

Yes!!!
It is truly amazing!

A great work of art,
But what was most interesting...
Was the UFO in the background of the photo.
And her clothes that she wore... hmmmm...

Interesting....

Anyway! Just thought I'd answer this question.
