To prove he doesn't exist - shouldn't I have proof first that he does?

Let me suggest that you read "The Case for a Creator" before you make to many assumptions for your negative assertions. There is also nothing contradictory within the G-dhead, and frankly you can't prove otherwise. Before you dismiss any of this out of hand, you might want to first of all get to know G-d through a personal relationship. It is possible. Accept Christ as your saviour and walk with Him, read the word of G-d regularly, pray and worship because He does inhabit the praises of His people.

No one can prove that such a thing does not exist (even though the god concept has never been defined precisely enough to be able to prove it one way or the other).

But there are two supposed features of jehovah/allah which are contradictory, namely omniscience and omnipotence. An omniscient god would know everything that would happen in advance, which means its omnipotence would not be able to change the future.
