Put you HOME address on your permanant luggage tags -- because the bags may not show up at your hotel or even in your destination for days. There are those who say put a copy of your itenerary in your luggage but if the bags are really stolen (vs just lost in baggage claim), then more harm than good can come from this. [It's like saying, hey, I'm away for a long time and these are the hotels and cars I'll be using so feel free to steal my identity in oh so many ways and places!] When you find that your luggage didn't arrive (from the airline), and you report it, you would THEN tell them where to deliver the luggage (to a hotel or maybe even to your next destination).

I have always put my home address on the tags. I never thought about it but it's probably a good idea to put both. One tag for name, home address & phone and another tag for hotel name, address & phone and cell phone number too! Thanks
ps - also put the dates you are staying at that hotel

Never put your home address where it would be visible. Anyone will be able to read it and know that your house will be empty. It is an open invitation to burglars.
If your bags get lost and end up at your hotel, the hotel will know where you live and be able to send them on. If you are still at the hotel why would you want mislaid bags going back to your home ?

You definitely put your home address and number! If it's lost on your way to your destination when you claim it with the airline you give them your hotel info, etc., same as on the way back. No one really pays attention to the non-airline tags on your luggage, if for some reason your luggage tag is looked at for anything other than you identifying it, your permanent address is the most important. :-)

Home address. The bags may be lost for quite some time, and you may have left the hotel by then.

Your work address and disposable e-mail address, an itinerary IN your suitcase. That way you can be contacted by the airline or your hotel if it becomes necessary.

Home address. However, I put a note on it that says "itinerary inside," and have a BIG piece of paper inside the luggage with where I'll be staying.

i'd put the address somewhere inside the bags as well (in case the tag is torn off accidentally, or otherwise destroyed)
