Hi ok frist i know she's not technically a "dog" but you get what i mean. Anyway i have a Border Collie who is due in about a month. She's in pretty good shape at the moment. But i was wondering how much i should exersie her. We do herding and agility which she's not much of at the moment or acutally almost none. I'm not letting her jump or herd because of her current "conditon" but she's used to working almost all day, so going for a walk just dosen't cut it. If any body has any ideas please let me know.

Also please don't give me any crap about breeding my dogs becuase i WILL report you. I'm being nice here i and expect the same form you. If you don't like what i have to say then just don't read it. thank you for all of your help.

I've to my vet and several others and they don't seem to know what to tell me i've gotten several different answers. some say just do what normaly do and others say only walk her and some just plain won't answer me. So i thought maybe i could put it up here and see what the masses think and go with what seems to be the most popular answer.

Anything that is low impact should be ok. Some agility work like weave poles or something would be fine as long as you avoid any jumps or excessive work. Try and keep any work sessions short and go for longer walks and take her cue as to how she's feeling. Pregnant women are encouraged to be active and keep up with most of their usual exercise through most of pregnancy, I don't see why dogs wouldn't be similar as long as you take some precautions and keep it fairly short. I imagine keeping a border collie who is used to working quiet is a challenge!

You are a good pet owner. I can see you are concerned and i wish everyone that owned a pet was like you. If your not a Mom, you should would make a good one. My Grandpa is a vet, he told me to tell you that your doing a wonderful job. He said if there is anyway that you can let her have her own space, area of course, that she cannot get out of. Her normal instinct is to do her job, so you will have to pamper her, walk with her maybe on a leach, if she will, this way she will not over due it. Some exercise is good, but she probably gets tired easier. You can control her exercise. Grandpa says, thanks for being a good concerned pet owner.

Does she play fetch that she could get some exercise that way? Try not to get her to worked up. If she gets winded enough to pant that is to much. It takes away blood flow from the unborn puppies. As for crap about breeding. Yes there are millions of homeless animals in shelters; but if everyone spayed their females we would run out of pets. The problem is unresponsible pet owners who don't take care of the animals and then dump them or thier offspring at a shelter. Your concern for you dog leads me to believe you're one of the good owners.

Random internet strangers can't in all probability bodily help your canines. you are the owner, you may desire to help your canines, especially when you consider which you have ALREADY FAILED HER by using not conserving her faraway from men throughout the time of her season. it somewhat is why we scream "Spay and neuter!" through fact maximum folk of human beings are not greater healthful even for a goldfish and purely make a contribution to this canines genocide in our u . s . a .. you may desire to make an appointment alongside with your veterinarian right now. Your vet can expertly be certain your canines's situation and could coach you from there. you're saying you have not have been given one - why? Who performs wellbeing exams? Who supplies your canines photos? Or are you neglecting your canines's wellbeing continuously? to not supply scientific care is faulty on many ranges, and you may nicely be fined for it. possessing ANY canines demands diligence and dedication, a large Dane greater so through their standard wellbeing problems and conventional extensive length. in case you may't shelter a canines good, then have not got one!

The reason people give RUDE answers is because people that breed should know this type if thing, OR they should be asking their VET!!!
You should not be taking the medical advice from people who you do not know. If you care that much about the dog...enough to worry about exercise during pregnancy....call your vet and ask them for REAL advice.
How would you feel if you took some advice from here and something happened????

THAT is why people are rude. If you breed, you owe it to the dog to exercise the BEST judgement and care. You are NOT going to get that here.

don't give her more food. feed her puppy food and a walk around the yard is good just a short calm walk. Nothing fast or long.
