I salute our military and if there are any of you who think our military is just there to kill people, you are stupid. I want to know if there are any people out there who are very disrespectful to our military.

This comment is not about the people in the United Statesian armed forces but about every person in ANY armed force anywhere.

As Einsteins once said
"This topic [the importance of individuality] brings me to that worst out-crop of the herd nature, the military system, which I abhor. That a man can take pleasure in marching to the strains of a band is enough to make me despise him. He has only been given his big brain by mistake; a backbone was all he needed. This plague-spot of civilization ought to be abolished with all possible speed. Heroism by order, senseless violence, and all the pestilent nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism -- how I hate them! War seems to me a mean, contemptible thing: I would rather be hacked in pieces than take part in such an abominable business. And yet so high, in spite of everything, is my opinion of the human race that I believe this bogey would have disappeared long ago, had the sound sense of the nations not been systematically corrupted by commercial and political interests acting through the schools and the press.

The U.S. military is the best! We have the best soldiers, airmen, Marines and sailors in the world. I have respect for each and every one of them! They derserve nothing but respect from everyone in the United States. Even if you don't agree with our President or the on going war in Iraq, you should support our military. After all they are the reason we are free.
God Bless our military!

I am not. I know people who have served in recent wars myself, some of whom disrespected the American Military, largely because of the high number of blue-on-blue incidents in the Iraq conflict, however the American soldiers are putting there lives on the line to do there job, and many are paying the ultimate price for it, they deserve respect. The soldiers on the ground should not face anger due to political oposition back home.

I'm with you, but there are too few being asked to do too much. Once again our planners have guessed wrong, and we need more riflemen. The F-22 and F-35 could have waited a bit longer in order to fund a few more battalions of boots on the ground. Not a severe criticism. We have to guess, and often we guess wrong. My only gripe is that the basic grunt still seems underappreciated.

As an Englishman i have a solution to Americas problems and a way to help Britain become more powerful ( as a force for good )

As the US Army is poorly trained but well equiped and the British army is Excellntly trained but not very well equiped why not allow us Brits to train your army ( as you do to the Iraq Army ) in exchange for equiping our army with the latest gear ( unless we are ahead in certain developmenst secretly )

That way it works for both, the British arnt embarressed to be working with trigger happy americans ( there are many and you know it ) and the americans get to be good soldiers with great weapons.

Its a win win situation

i hope not i love our military they are the best around and the only game in town.
when we get in deep the guys are tougher than rock
in fact id like congress to let our military to govern themselves
from bootcamp to the grave
let my marines get tough so they spit nails and piss acid
theres nothing like the fear that used to be when we were sending the marines in
they killed and destroyed at will raped mamed and killed for fun
if a pissed off marine got nasty the whols sp would have to roll on him
and he did his job and did it well thats why the navey uses a marine to guard their adamirals. and the president
they are the dogs of war.

A military is needed but wars are not always the right answer. Like the war we are currently in. Unjustifiable. Plus I only criticize certain soldiers when they die and their whole family is in a bunch because they are dead. They signed up for possibly dying in a war. Get over it.

Well over her in Canada our soldiers go to war with a plastic knife and fork..........but then again, we don't go to war that often. I have no opinion on the U.S. military other than they are doing what your power hungry president told them to do. Every soldier should be honoured, but they also should be home.
