We have a rescued kitty - 2 mos old at the time we got him - he started pooping & peeing outside of the litter box at about 4 mos. We took him in & found out he had a worm & bladder infection. We had him neutered & declawed & put on worm meds & antibiotics. It has been 2 wks - now he uses the litter box most of the time, but still will go outside of the box at least once a day. We had him put on stronger antibiotics 2 days ago - but not seeming to help. I don't want to give this kitty up - any ideas? Oh yes, we have 2 other cats - all 3 were using the litter box just fine until the little one decided not to.

You will have to completely clean the spots the kitty has soiled because you know, once the smell is there, it is an okay spot to use for anyone of your cats. There is a product that eats away the ammonia smell in the carpet and liner, I just forget the name of it. It is readily available at your local pet store.

You declawed the kitty? Well, you may have to experiment with different types of sand until you find something that is comfortable. Also, you may have to start cleaning the catboxes (I am assuming you have one for each cat?) daily if you are not already doing so.

You might want to consider keeping the kitty in one room only for awhile until he uses the catbox EVERY time! He has been through alot, poor baby! He might need his own space for now.

that happen with more than one cat. Keep at least two boxes, sometime one will decide not to use it. Important to keep the litter changed regular. The one that has poop outside the box, if you can, put in in area by itself for two weeks with clean little box, I think you will see he will use it just fine. I have three also.

Because of all the time that it has not been using a litter box, before the rescue, it still has to get used to being in a new home, new food, and litterbox. go gradually and slowly, and be patient!
