There are several sources to locate scholarships both on and off the web. I do recommend joining more than one free membership scholarship search website because a scholarship might be listed on one and not another. All of these sources are free to sign up for and use.

First, the high school guidance office is a great source for high school students to locate local scholarships. This is for students currently attending high school.

Second, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered by outside organizations and companies.

Third, the public library has a scholarship listing book. It lists some scholarships that can't be located on the web.

Fourth, fill out the FAFSA form. It will tap into need based financial aid based on the state and federal government level along with the college itself. It is free to complete the form. It provides financial aid based on your family's income and financial resources.

Finally, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for scholarships based on race, ethnicity, religion, and college major.

Good luck!

The best place to check would be the schools you are interested in. Many colleges give away hundreds of thousands of scholarship money away to their students. Check with an academic advisor so they can point you in the right direction. If you have good grades, these scholarships are often very easy to get. You may also be able to get some money if you have a lot of community involvement.

By looking at the school, you will probably have a better chance of getting money. Plus, you know it will be legitimate.
