People who suffer a life of stress usually don't make it to an old age. If they do, they are most likely in poor health, cranky, timid or developed alzheimer or other mental disorders. Stress can kill you.

Hi, I'm 51 and have had to deal with stress all of my life. Stresses that most people don't have to experience. I take meds. And I can't handle Walmart very easily. I wait until it's dinner time and go when I know there aren't a million people in there. Getting older has taught me to use other things besides meds to stay strong and not stress. I have high blood pressure and I can feel it when it's high. And stress is the cause. It's a stressful world and some do better than others. Hope this helps you in some way.

So many people are hospitalized because of stress related mental problems. It is obvious the people who live a stressful life and the people who don't. It's funny how all our lives .... when you are a child you look forward to highschool and worry and stress over that.. then after highschool you stress over college getting into college etc. and then you stress at college to get a job... then at your job you stress to get a raise, better sallery or a good retirement. What happens when you hit retirement? then you stress about your kids? I mean stress is a never ending cycle. Stress can still affect people at an old age. it can affect everyone!!! but it accomplishes nothing. enjoy your life... life is shorter than you realize

Excessive stress can have negative effects on people of all ages. Stress raises cortisol levels and if the stress is chronic then these raised cortisol levels can raise blood sugar levels and raise a person's cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Plus chronic stress can mess up a person's immune system, making them more susceptible to infection and viruses. Not to mention it can also create psychological problems such as uncontrolled anger, depression and anxiety.
