I have the flu, I woke up throwing up, and I feel terrible. But my parents still make me do all these chores. I have to clean the yard, and bring in a bunch of boxes from the garage. I have to get on the roof and get all the leaves off, clean the pool, I have to fill the wood box with wood from a pile thats hard to get to and I have to drag it uphill, we don't even need a fire, it's not even cold, and I have to do a bunch of other stuff. And if I ask if they or at least my sister can help with something, my mom tells me not to give her attitude.

My dad always do this to me as a child, even the time I sprained my ankle. Well, I think you should throw up in front of them because it sounds like they think you faking it. Parents can be stupid sometimes. Especially when it comes to trying to understand their children and thinking they know what is like to be a kid but times have changing and research says it's harder to be a kid now then it was back then.

If you are really sick, then they need to get you some over the counter medicine to see if it will help you and if not, take you to the doctor for some stronger medicine. All parents are different but it seems like that they give you chores to do and they want them done. If you are not in pain or staying in the bathroom, then you should be able to do the chores. I had chores to do when I was a kid also and I didn't like them either but it teaches you good work ethics and the meaning of helping out others.

That seems odd. Parents aren't stupid (generally), but some people aren't very wise. Have you given them reason to think you might be faking it? We're only getting one side of the story here and all the adults here were teens at one time...
However, if you are genuinely ill and still being expected to do all those chores perhaps you should talk to your folks and ask the chores be deferred at least until you've had a bit of time to recover...otherwise, take your time and don't overdo, and get plenty of fluids because the vomiting will have dehydrated you...

I bet you have done something to get away from chores before that your parents dont beleive you now. Breath deeply and get to the chores and dont cry WOLF again unless its true, and then maybe your parents wont be so mean, I do know what your going thru it has happened to me before also, I'm just glad I'm not the child anymore.

I am not trying to push your feelings aside and I don't believe that all parent are uneducated...BUT could there be a reason why they may think you are faking being ill? I have 3 teen boys and they all have done the whole routine and they even could make themselves barf...I figured them out in a short period of time and fixed their problem..."Ok, your sick, sick boys don't need tv, they need rest, sick boys don't need video games, they need to rest, sick boys need to stay in there rooms so they don't make the rest of the family sick." They were allowed out of their rooms for food and restroom issues but that put a stop to the problem cause they did not want to be bored all day. So if your really sick you would prove it by staying in your room and resting. Just my opinion. Good Luck!

Tell them you are sick, and stay in bed. If they try to force you, call 911. That's abusive. Parents HAVE to stop doing these things to kids.
