If he keeps doing it even though he says he's not addicted to them he is. He's just in denial and that's not good.

If you only smoke once in a while you may not have an actual addiction to it. If he smokes regularly (more than once everyday) than he is addicted. Some people say they aren't addicted because they don't want to believe it's true and they want to believe they can quit anytime they want without any problem.

It's actually not true at all because the nicotine found in cigarette smoke is highly addictive. A lot of people who smoke say that.

It is a line he's giving you so you'll stop pestering him to quit. Nicotine is addictive. Highly addictive. I've smoked for years and for as much as I'd like to make-believe I can quit any time, that time never seems to get here. The odd times when I'm out of butts I'd rather search through the waste and re-roll the scraps than suffer the torture of withdrawal. Nicotine craving is a very real thing and you'll do almost anything to satisfy it. So if he says he can quit any time he wants, he's either lying to you or lying to himself.

Challenge him: if he's NOT addicted, then he should be able to stop smoking for 2 weeks very easily. See if he can do this without a problem. If he can't, then he is addicted.

Anyone who smokes is addicted. Believe it or not cigarettes are the hardest thing to quit. It is easier to quit heroin then the nicotine.

They all say that! Put him to the test.
1. how long does it take to replace the last smoke in the pack?
2.does he share smokes with others?
3.does he refuse to except that cough in the morning?
4.does he bum a smoke from others?
5.ASK HIM TO STOP FOR THREE DAYS!
People think they can control themselves but that only applies
to normal situation, not smoking, drinking or drugs.

There is no such thing as a smoker that is not addicted to tobacco. Your boyfriend is lying to himself (self denial is the phrase) if he thinks he isn't hooked on nicotine.

He's addicted weather he thinks so or not. His body has a very physical dependancy on the nicotine.

He's addicted. Ask him - if he's not addicted then quit for a week.
