I know some people get so timid when it comes to cops, but comeone, they are only human they put their pants on the way you do, they have a job to do, they do not make the laws, they just enforce them, and they are very protected when they are needed, Soo why do people act like they do? And why do cops get unfriendly sometimes when they see an innocent person, Its time to get back into the 60s were the cop was your best friend

you are right in the 60s the police were your friend unless yo committed a crime , today the cops are told they have such a dangerous job and that they can't trust anyone unless it is another cop, therefore they have became a danger to the public how many times have you read in the paper that cops have killed some innocent person? I am 70 y,o, and was on my way home from church on a Sunday after noon when a cop turned his light on behind me so I stopped got out of my car and was walking toward the cop car and getting my wallet out so he could see my license etc, The cop drew his gun and was yelling at me to stop and put my hands on top of the car , I was so nervous and scared I almost had a heart attack, I thought he was going to shoot me,when he got to me he kicked my ankles making me spread my feet and caused me to fall , then he pulled his gun again and told me to get on my feet, I couldn't hardly stand because he had kicked my ankles, my crime was I didn't come to a full stop at the stop sign, I had to call my son to come and get me because I was so shook up I was afraid to try and drive home, am I afraid of cops ? you damned right I am.

I don't like the police. They abuse your civil rights often and you don't know it. Then they laugh about it with other policemen. Many are on a power trip and it's this reason I feel many became cops in the first place. Not because of some desire to help people in need as many think. Oh, I'm sure there is a random cop now and then that believes he's doing it for the good of mankind...but he's a rarity. Many enforce the laws to the letter instead of using a little common sense...case in point...a girl was relieving herself behind a dumpster behind a bar one night. Cop saw her go behind the thing and followed her, waited till she dropped her panties and squatted, then arrested her for indecent exposure and it made the paper. She wasn't bothering anyone and nobody but the cop witnessed it...so why did the a**wipe bother her? No common sense is why. And I'll bet you a hundred bucks that somtime in his life that cop yanked it out and pee'd out in the open. I don't know a male yet that hasn't pi**ed behind a tree someplace.

I think that to a fairly large extent the reason has nothing to do with the cops at all. I believe it is a residual fear of authority figures from childhood, developed from instances in which the child did nothing wrong but was accused by other kids (little lying soms o' yitches!) and thus punished. Also, in such cases children find that it is useless to object to the authority figure because that only makes them seem guiltier: "Me thinkest thou dost protest too much!" Plus, there are all those movies, t.v. shows, etc., about the wrongly accused (like The Count of Monte Cristo) that plants the seeds of suspicion in everyone's minds about the agenda of authority figures at any given time.

The public's actions have dictated the change in police behavior. All of you people crying that the police are abusers, get real. Yes there are bad cops. But when you get pulled over for a traffic infraction and you are intoxicated and they find a gram of coke on you...who are you kidding?...lol 6 out of 10 people recently surveyed said they have recently verbally resisted the police. "Smoking weed isn't a crime!" GUESS WHAT!? it IS right now. Because that is what it comes down to. Honestly its like protecting a bunch of retards from themselves. OH WAIT...I forgot...I was pulled over cuz my sticker on the back of my car said" BAD COP NO DONUT!" How bout our sticker said " BAD POTHEAD NO MUNCHIES!" WTF...smoke another bong hit. freaking idiots.

Because beat cops no longer just enforce law to keep the peace and deter violent crime, they are now administrators of public identification and licensing, marriage councilors, child custody judges, and revenue collectors. They can ruin your life in a heartbeat if "your papers are not in order" you argue with your wife, or you answer incorrectly when questioned.... The role of today's cop has drastically changed in 30 years. They WILL now lie to get you convicted just because you pissed them off. the main problem is with legislators, and way way too much government control. People can't get to the real culprits, so they react against the messenger.

We even have the "Police centers Act", particular regulations that for the time of basic terms word to Canadian police officers, on and rancid duty. each and every thing we do is as much as scrutiny, collectively with off-duty stuff that common electorate do no longer ought to handle. are you able to lose 20-40hrs of pay for swearing at somebody in the Walmart vehicle parking zone for stealing your parking spot? police officers can, this is termed "disreputable habit", for each individual else this is "unfastened speech". are you able to think of a plumber having his pay decrease with the aid of fact he had a combat with a neighbour? Your question is greater beneficial than a rant than the rest, yet I even have tried to respond to it.

people are afraid of the police because of the many stories of people spending years in jail or even on death row only to be found innocent due to dna testing.innocent people need to fear the cops they are interested in clearing cases not justice.

Police have to earn our respect, and I have witnessed things that have caused me to completely lose respect for them (not even counting all the stuff on youtube). They are human, and they allow emotions and prejudices to corrupt them.

Because, now, thanks to the current administration, you can
be arrested & the cops can make up the reason why, later,
when they feel like it.
