I weigh 76 pounds, my height is 5"2, and I am 13 years old.
All my friends are on diets, and they are taller than me, and skinnier, and they are all on diets, they all have boobs, and they all got their periods, and I didn't, but that, I can't control. The only thing I can control is my weight, and it makes me feel more like a woman, do I need to diet, qand lost weight?

Eat more and you will get boobs. The less you eat...the tinier your boobs. You are 30 lbs underweight. When I was 13, I was 5'3 and I weighed 120lbs. I got my period at 14. People always talked about what a great body I had. I grew 2 inches between the age of 16 and 18 and 2 cup sizes! I was a very healthy 5'6 and 130 pounds and a C cup. I modeled for years... Just a secret for all of you...models and actresses LIE about their weight. Take what they tell you and add 15 pounds and that is what they really weigh. For example, my friend Sharyn was a Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, etc. runway model. She was 5'10 and weighed 152 pounds and looked like a stick...but she always told everyone she was 115!

If you don't eat enough and in a healthy way with exercise, you will not have enough nutrition to grow to your full potential. Your skin, hair and teeth will look gross. Focus on being an excellent person and don't worry about your "looks"...they only get you so far...and frankly being as underweight as you are may be why you don't have your period yet. Check with a doctor. And enjoy NOT having your period if it isn't your time. Its a pain.

Hi Katy -

Oh 13 - the age of peer pressure and dieting!

You really should be able to talk to your doctor about this - I suggest mentioning it next time! However, heres what they might tell you:

Weight can be a very misleading number. There isn't an exact perfect number that any one person should weight. However, you can find a range of suggested healthy weights at www.self.com.

I just quickly checked your numbers, and it looks like for your height and gender, you should ideally be at leat 101 lbs!

But don't obsess about this number. You don't walk around with your weight tattooed on your forehead (unless you have a lot of extra money and time) - so it's how you look and feel that counts.

13 is an important time in your development. You are just becoming a woman - so eating right and being kind to your body are extremely important! Being so underweight can seriously damage your health - and prevent things like getting your period or developing a chest. Your body will go into survival mode - so it will reserve the little energy it has into keeping your organs going.

Remember: Controlling your weight doesn't mean losing weight. You can be in control of your health by maintaining a healthy weight. Don't worry, you'll develop soon enough!

Hi Katy H. You really need to get some help. I just looked at your questions. You are obviously desperate for attention and reassurance. Sounds like you have body image issues and possibly anorexia/bulimia. Really these disorders are just another cry for attention. You need to find some help because you cant be happy like this. Relying on reassurance from yahoo answers is not healthy. School counselor, maybe? You need to address the issue of why you feel like you need this attention, which is probably linked to low self esteem. This isn't a weight/diet issue, its a mental health issue. Take good care of your self, the sooner you get over this the sooner you can start living and enjoying your life!

Im 12 5'4 and about 114 pounds. You are underweight so there's nothing to worry about and these "friends" of yours are not a good example, if you lose any more weight than you might end up in hospital. Consider yourself lucky that you can eat all u want and stay skinny! Most women will do exercise for ages if they even ate 1 square of chocolate!

First off thin isnt all that, most guys/men these days like curves boobs, butt and wether you get your period or not loosing wieght will always take away from your figure. And as for feeling like a woman. Real women dont spend thier days worring about wieght they have lifes. You need better friends loosing too much wieght will also make you never get your period and/or miss it once you do. Just eat and be healthy. And I dont know if you know or not but muscel wieghs more than fat so instaed of dieting you should be doing cardio, jogging and arobics to get a nice body not just a skinny one. If your not carefull youll end up 18 years old and looking like a 11 year old boy.

No! You are far too young to be on a diet - if you start messing around with your metabolism now, you will screw it up for life.

Just relax, do what you do normally and listen to your body (and appetite) - you'll find that in the next two years or so your body will change an awful lot anyway, so it's a waste to stress about it now.

No, you don't need to diet, you don't need to lose weight. At 13 years old, your body is still developing and needs a lot of nutrition. As long as you are eating healthy(plenty of vitamins, proper food groups, little to no fast food and junk foods), and plenty of exercise, there is no need to diet.

If your body cannot obtain the appropriate amount of nutrients during this growth stage, you COULD end up stunting your growth, stunting the growth of your breasts. Just eat healthy and exercise, you can't go wrong there.

Savor your childhood while you still have it. You're far too young to be thinking about dieting. Besides, you're already underweight. So ignore what your friends are doing and develop at your own pace.

NO! you do not & should not go on a diet.
You should talk to a doctor about why this maters so much at 13.
You will grow up soon, don't make matters worse for yourself.
