Christianity is a monotheistic religion. 1 god. the holy trinity is a concept developed over time once the Christians split from the Jewish faith. don't forget, Catholicism, where all Christianity comes from, picked up bits and pieces from ALL religions. it was a roman cult first and Rome had most major religions represented in the city at the time Christianity became popular. Egyptian and Sumerian religions had virgin births of messiahs, saints and priests came from a polytheistic roman tradition of individual gods for individual families and purposes and ancestor worship is a very ancient eastern belief that was also incorporated into Christianity through the saints and martyrs. most christian celebrations are pagan even. the bible says Christ was born in spring/summer, but Christmas is celebrated in winter because there was a already a very popular pagan festival at the winter solstice that was incorporated into Catholicism. same for Easter.

this is how i interpret it
1st.- In any relationship there is a person who gives, there is a person who accepts the gift and there is a thing that is given. If you love someone your love must be accepted in order to be full filled and there must be love between you. That's the perfect relation.
2nd.- God is love, he does not depend on anything besides him. If that is so we could also guess his perfect nature from the relation of point "1".
3rd.- God is the lover, the Spirit is the gift, the Son is the loved one. And all of the are the same, love itself

Well, i think we cannot comprehend how is god entirely, but we can make an idea about it

You have a good point. Just as Hindu gods are seen as different aspects of the same god, so is the Trinity, but Hinduism is considered polytheistic. Good question.

Christianity is a Monotheistic faith. We believe that God is one in His essential being and/or essence. And we believe this because this is what the Bible reveals to us about the nature of God. According to the Shema as found in Deuteronomy 6:4, the LORD our God is one LORD. And throughout the writings of Scripture, we're told that God knows of no other God - save Himself.

Monotheists because there is only one God who is 3 persons, but only one God. Just like a book has a length, width and height but is only one book.
