Salvation -- From what? I can salvage myself from whatever I need to save myself from. Since I don't believe in hell, there's no need of that here.

God helping you positively change you life -- Again, I don't believe in god, so he doesn't have an affect on my life. I change my life positively as well as people and events around me.

Fruits of the spirit -- Just what are fruits of the spirit anyway? I get my fruits from the Farmer's Market, if that's what you're asking.

Gifts of the spirit(gifts and fruits are different) -- Walmart?

Miracles -- Miracles do not exist. They are a fabcrication.

Blessings(That man cant naturally match) -- Again.. non-existent.

Increased Faith -- I have faith that the sun will rise tomorrow and that the earth revolves around the sun. I also know these to be factual. I have faith in myself but not in mankind as a whole. It's pretty bleak.

The Holy Spirit - Holy non-existent Batman!

Understanding of God's word -- Can you say... Doesn't exist?

God can prosper your life -- by guilting me into worshipping him? No thanks. Next!

Withstanding the pressures of life -- We can do that without a sense of false security.

These things may be good for you, but they are just un-needed crutches to people like myself.

The main benefit of not believing is that we can live life without worrying whether or not we are pleasing a deity with the things we do. Also, we don't have to feel guilty for anything. We don't have to follow archaic rules of the bible.

And, we're genuinely caring, generous and loving people. No pretenses. Our morality is true.

Plus we're more intelligent.

Well, i used to be religious. Then I really started to question my faith and I proved that it was wrong. Religion can make you happy-but at what expense? I came to the conclusion that ignorance is bliss. Yes reality may disturb us but its too dangerous to disregard-especailly since my former religion was Islam. After leaving that vile and hateful religion I found out that all religions are just big cults. Once you find the truth you cant deny it. Hey I probably wouldnt have minded it if i was raised a christian. There was some verses that i found disturbing in it though like:

>Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)
>You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)
>Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

The biggest thing I gain from being an atheist is freethought, logic, and open-mindedness.

It's not a choice. If you told me there was an invisible big blue monkey on the roof I couldn't force myself to believe it. All the things you listed are personal delusions. I'm sorry, I would love to believe in that stuff, but once your educated it's not a choice.

All that said, I can honestly say I'm happy I don't believe there is some dictator sitting in the sky. So:

Happyness
Personal Honesty
No religous stunt on learning
A free mind
Morality not based on fear
Appreciation of life
Spirituality that doesn't involve a sky daddy

What more could you want?

In addition to "eris" cool answers:
Understanding that the human condition is not to be found in tens of thousands of contradictory and often cruel vagaries - that we have the equipment to better the plight of our fellow human beings by taking practical steps based on actual, coherent knowledge.

That the only thing to fear is the hegemony of ignorance.

Did you not read my answer to your earlier question? or are you just that dense?--Not believing makes us part of the responsible part of the world's population who are actually striving to fix this planet and help our fellow people instead of waiting for God to take us away--when we do make things better we have satisfaction that our efforts were not in vain and are rewarded by a better living situation that is for all people

You can live your life with your own sense of honor and beliefs with out the pressure of living up to 2,000 year old outdated rules. People who are religious only carry out "good deeds" because they live in fear that otherwise god will send them to hell.

Fear is the mother of morality.
