Guys I have to be honest.........?
I cant stand it when a woman breastfeeds in public!!!! If its absolutly neccessary FINE, but cover your ****...you dont wanna see my bags hanging out so what makes you think we want to see yours. For everyone who says its "beautiful" please explain to me what makes it "so beautiful" I fully understand the child needs to eat, so if you know you are going to be out, cant you pump and feed the baby from a bottle? Dont wanna do that? Can you not cover up or excuse yourself and go to a mothers room (thats why they are there!

I must agree as well. Example I went to the mall with my girlfriend over the xmas holidays, she than said she has to feed the baby I was like ok, thinking she was gonna pull out a baby bottle. NOPE!! She site on the bench lifts her sweater and pops out her breast I was so embaressed. People were walking looking and alot of dirty looks, and she was carrying on a conversation with me like it was nothing. I was very uncomfotable. I thought breastfeeding was something private between mother and child not something that should be on display for people to throw coins as they walk by!!!!!!!

Most restrooms are not appropriate places to feed a baby. The only place to sit is on the toilet, and nobody wants to feed a baby standing up. Nursing is what breasts are intended for, and it is totally impractical to always have a bottle of pumped milk on hand. You don't always know how long you will be out or when the baby is going to be hungry.

That said, a nursing mother needs to be modest about it. Cover up so other people don't have to see naked breasts. It is also more tasteful if the woman can find a quieter part of the room without as many people walking by.

Your question reminds me of Friends, the episode where Ross drinks breast milk with cookies.

Any how, I agree that a cover up is not a bad idea. I usually avert my eyes asap and say " galloping gargoyles" and curse under the breath ( sometimes over it as well) when something like this happens. IF you are not sure that you want to bottle feed the child ( Bottlr fed children have higher incidence of ear infections) at least coverup A nice shawl (or whatever you prefer) is not out of place.

Restrooms? I don't think anyone will agree to that.

If it's done tactfully, then public breastfeeding is fine. In fact, I believe there are even special shirts that women can buy that have openings on the breasts. When breastfeeding time comes, they can just open up the opening and let the child suck it all up.

And like someone else said, doing it in the bathroom should not be suggested. Would you want to eat dinner in the bathroom? Surely my point is clear and I don't have to explain any further.

In all, there is a right and wrong way to breastfeed in public, just like there is a right and wrong way to use the bathroom when in a public place.

I breast fed my daughter for the first year. It can be done tactfully and tastefully in public. My mom made me a nursing bid which completely covered it. You see more exposed cleavage walking into a shopping mall that when you saw of mine while nursing. As far as airplanes, would you want to eat in a restroom? Why should my child? And what about the other 100 or so passangers on the plane who actually might need it for what the restroom is intended for? I preferred to sit next to the window and hold the baby wrapped in a blanket...and no one saw anything.

I have no problems with public breastfeeding. a sprint one has to have it is foodstuff, and it relatively is barely merely feeding a sprint one, on the tip of the day. it is not as though mothers ought to whip out her breasts in comprehensive view, the two - it relatively is totally obtainable to breastfeed very discreetly, with out showing the international. honest sufficient, she ought to have bought some thing on the pub, no longer inevitably a meal, in step with threat an orange juice, yet different than for that there must be no issues, in an suitable international.

Your problem with this is that you are seeing womens' breasts as sexual organs only. This is simply so very far from being correct that it's no laughing matter.

And no, it's not in the least bit suitable for a woman to nurse her child in the washroom. Washrooms, no matter how frequently they are cleaned, are fithly places, and are totally unsuited to nursing a child. Let's put this another way - you want women to nurse their children in a bathroom, so would you actually EAT in one yourself? Do you now understand just how disgusting an idea that is?

Grow up and get over it.

I think breastfeeding is a beautiful thing but not when it's done in public.

A few years ago I was in a plane with my sister on my way to Tennessee to go see some relatives. There was a woman who sat next to me and she had a little baby boy with her. During the middle of the flight she started breastfeeding her baby. One of the restrooms were free and I didn't understand why she couldn't of just gone in there. Plus there are such things as pumps. She should of filled up a couple of bottles before she left. We had a connecting flight and the woman was in the same flight as our next one. She didn't sit next to us though. But while we were at the gate she just sat on the floor (there were no more seats left) and started to breastfeed again. And again, she could of just gone to the restroom. We still had alot of time left before we had to start boarding the plane. The thing I hated though was that there were so many little children around.
I just find it to be very inappropriate.

In other parts of the world it is no big thing, only in the western hemisphere. If you traveled, you would become used to it and not even take a second glance. However I agree that in this American culture it is rude to expose your breasts in public due to the fact that we are so different, with so many different nationalities and cultures. I nursed all three of my kids and never once exposed myself in any public place, and not even in my home when there were guests, in order not to offend anyone
My breasts are my own private business.
