As with any vehicle you should change your oil every 3000 miles.

Well that all depends on the type of oil you put in there. There are ones you change every 3k,7k,10k depending on how cheap/broke you are. Now they even have oil you change every 15k. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_Extended_Performance.aspx

You should check this page out, I know it's an SHO page but it is about GM testing on mobile 1.

Remember once you upgrade your oil to a higher milage one keep using that same kind or higher otherwise it could mess things up pretty bad, just like switching from prem. gas to regular unleaded then back again.

Under "perfect" lab condition you can run regular oil (rated for 3k)for 100k without a breakdown, but that requires no dirt near the engine which you can forget if you do anything other than run the engine in a shop.

Your owners Manual will be very specific, however it will be based on what type of driving and climate in which you live. Ford Motor Company has two Maintenance schedules. Schedule I calls for different intervals from Schedule II. I am old school and always change my oil in My Nissan Pathfinder and Kia Spectra at 3000 mile and use a good oil such as Havoline 5w30 of Pennzoil 20w50 depending on the time of year.

Do you have a owner's manual? It should give you that advice. If not, call a Ford garage and ask them.

I just bought a Toyota and they recommend an oil change every 6 thousand miles. If you do mostly stop-and-go city driving, you may need it changed sooner.

The general number is every 3 months or 3,000 miles right? But... It also depends on the oil you're using for it. Some don't need to be changed for a long time. It also depends on what you feel like doing... It certainly doesn't hurt if you're bored to change oil... haha

Every 3,000 miles, don't follow the owner's manual because if you want to keep your car running you want the maintenance done according to the severe operating section of the owner's manual regardless of how you drive. After 3,000 miles the oil in your car's engine wears out to the point where it no longer protects your engine. I would also have the transmission serviced every 55,000 miles. My 84 ranger never had an engine or transmission problem following that maintenance schedule.

I thought it was 3000 miles too but i have an 06 explorer and in the warranty info it says every 5000 miles. So im assuming it might be the same for your ford.

Normally you should change your oil and filter,. every 2500 miles, depending one how heavily you use your car. Are you in heavy traffic or light? or do you drive occasionally? If you drive in heavy traffic, you may want to change your oil more frequently, like every 1800 miles

you ought to right this moment verify ALL belts and hoses interior the engine for cracks and placed on. those are produced from plastic and rubber and can supply off an scent while they weaken from --age or --severe warmth exposure. They then supply off a streety rubbery burning, especially much smoldering scent while ever the engine warms up. good success.
