Sin is a deliberate thought, word, deed, or omission contrary to the eternal law of God.
In other words, sin is anything that hurts your relationship with God.
Is not going to church contrary to the eternal law of God?
Does not going to church help or hurt your relationship with God?
With love in Christ.

I used to go to Sunday School as a child, but, because i wanted to attend...
My parents were 'Non believers'
I guess, at the time, i had no opinion on 'God' or religion...
I'm now all grown up of 42 years and i don't go to Church...
I believe, that God? is all around us and we shouldn't need to be in a man made building (Church), to pray etc etc...
But, having said that, it is a pleasurable experience, to be within a church, with others from your community and have a jolly good sing song and to stop a while and think of LIFE and OTHER PEOPLE.
We are all so busy with our own lifestyles and the simplest of thoughts are missed.
Best Regards... Karen.
P.S. I Don't believe, that non church goers are sinning...
Answer ; NOT A SIN.

Your spiritual life is ultimately between you and God, so you ought to pray about that to Him and ask Him what He thinks about you not going to church. But even if God is everywhere, it's important also to have fellowship with other Christians and church is a good place for Christians to gather together and do good things in the community (giving money to the poor, feeding the homeless, ect.). Also, prayers tend to be even more effective when you pray with other Christians, although it is also very important to have alone time with God as well. Besides, if you are too busy to go to church, then how can you keep up in your relationship with God? Paying your respects outside of church takes up time just like paying your respects inside of church takes up time. Also, how do you manage to pay tithe without going to church?

no it is not a sin not going to church. Because each individual who has accepted Jesus Christ as lord and Savior is the church.therefore you are in the church 24 seven . The buildings that are referred to as a church . Our only good for like minded people to worship God take communion as a congregation rather than an individual , it's also a place where you can hear the word of god hopefully get good teaching and learning , of course you do known that the father of lies attends church, more than many Christians do, so do not be surprised if you find yourself sitting right next to him or her his purpose is to make trouble and put you off . In any event let the Holy spirit of god lead you into doing the right thing and you won't go wrong if you do this . In the meantime may god our father Bless you and yours in the name of Jesus Christ I ask this . It is so . Peter William lack .

yes it matters, jesus gave us a church, after the gospels we hear how the church was being regulated and we know that many were martyred for the church and christianity,if it wasn't important then such measures and lengths would not have been undertaken by the first christians and jesus would not have promised the protection of the holy spirit and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. you are to busy in the world, take time to go to church and don't allow the world dictate what you can and can't do. search for a catholic question and answers forum, you will get alot of good advice on this and other things you may be thinking about.take care and god bless.

No it is not a sin. Usually church is for fellowshipping, as well as tithing, giving offering, sharing in worship, listening to the word..etc. If you are new to religion, then it would be best to go and learn from a educated leader.
But if you have a relationship with God, understand the Bible, know how to pray etc...then that's all that matters.

Yes, GOD COMMANDS THAT WE COME TOGETHER AND WORSHIP HIM EVERY FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK. Yes it does matter how much you respect GOD'S inspired word about where and when and how to worship him.
Here are some scriptures that might bring this clearer to you:
1 Corinthians 11:20 When ye come together therefore into one place...
Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week when the disciples came together to break bread...
1 Corinthians 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let everyone of you lay by him in store...
HEBREWS 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.......
God's word teaches that we come together upon the first day of the week to offer our worship as he commands to God.
God's children must not forsake assembly. To do so is a sin Hebrews 10:24,25
Worship is certainly an everyday occurance, however, there is PUBLIC ORSHIP of the Church of Christ. That is the congregation coming together to worship.
Romans 16:16

Going to church is about coming together with other belivers to lift up God, and each other. the sin is rejecting Christ as savior. There is nothing in the bible that says go to church on saturday or sunday. It says to remember the sabbath and keep it holy. If you have no time for rest (which is what sabbath means) then you are sinning. God desires us to rest from work just as he did.

If we have the ability to enter His court to give homage and respect to Him as our Father and King, then it is disrespectful not to. How would any father feel if his kids never took the time out to say Hi dad, you are the greatest! Putting one day a week aside to honor Him is the least we can do to honor Him for all that He is and does in our lives each day. No it isn't a sin, but it is something God desires of us, after all, He created us with the purpose to fellowship with Him in all eternity. If we don't start here, we'll have a lot of catching up to do in heaven, trying to learn the songs and hymns.

religion has become much more privatised now due to the things that you have mentioned, there are alot of pressures on our time now. I guess it depends on your own personal beliefs, some people think that going to church every sunday is imperitive, but others do not feel the need to, or simply, just don't have the time. At the end of the day, if you're comfortable with paying your respects in your own time, and where you please, then that's all that matters, religion is much more of a subjective thing now, so i don't think that the strict rules that once apply, are generally fitting in with the context of today's society
