I got braces September 1 by way of insurance. They constantly break. The brackets get loose. I only have five brackets on my top teeth and no wire connecting to the back rings, so essentially my top braces are fake and not doing a thing to correct my teeth. My top teeth are already straight! Yesterday, at my orthodontist visit, he saw I had no wire connecting to the rings on either side and di nothing about it. He acted normal and just replaced the wire in front without connecting it to anything...can I ask to have the top one removed and just keep on with the bottom braces? He said my braces will only take half a year. I'm tired of these, and they keep busting. You can also see the glue where the brackets snapped off and he did nothing about it...and on the brackets that have been stuck to my teeth, it looks like he sloppily applied the glue all over the tooth. My friend says it's the most botched operation of braces they had every heard of.

If you are a minor, have your parents talk to this doctor. There may be a reason there is no wire... . If you are an adult and these are the reasons you have been getting, I would look for another orthodontist. Whatever you do, don't try to take them off yourself. You could break your teeth in the process and believe me, you don't know pain until you break a tooth. Good Luck!

If your ortho is doing that, they obviously don't care and only want the insurance money. I recommend going to a new orthodontist and simply have them look at your braces. Get their opinions and see if they'll do a good-will braces removal. My orthodontist did something similar to that when my tooth chipped underneath a bracket. Her team went through a meeting and one of them their lunch break to take my braces off immediately. See if that works, hun. Just, whatever you do, don't take them off yourself. Not only could you injure your teeth, but the insurance won't pay for the damage. If you ever want to do anything about the botched work, you can't further damage them of everything will be void. I hope this helps.

That sucks, it sounds like you got unlucky with the denstist. SInce this is covered by your insurance, you have an advantage, you can call your insurance company and tell them you need to switch orthodontists. If you really want to remove the top ones, he can do that for you: I am wearing braces only on the bottom now. The thing to remember when dealing with these ppl is to be firm and clear: state what you want to be done and dont take no for an answer. Otherwise, he will have you there forever b/c he wants more money from the insurance company. Good luck.

Go to another orthodontist and ask for an opinion. It sounds like you should definitely change doctors but not necessarily have them removed.
