He treats me like I'm his younger sister or something and gives me all this "advice" about how to live my life. This man is a good deal older than me (I'm 19 and he's almost 30) but he doesn't work and lives at home while I am going to college getting my degree and trying to make something of myself. My boyfriend is always loyal to this man because he was one of the first people to make him feel welcome when he was a freshman at our college (my boyfriend is 23, by the way, not much older than I am). How can I stop this man from being such an annoyance? Everyone kind of feels sorry for him and puts up with him because he's such a failure, but I can't take much more!

I have a guy friend only a few years older than me (I'm 26) who calls me "kiddo" too. I don't think it's meant to be demeaning. In fact, I like it because it feels affectionate. I don't know your boyfriend's friend but he might just mean it as a term of endearment. If you don't like it though, ask if he could just call you by your name (warning: it might offend him).

Tell him to stop treating you like he's been treating you. Maybe you could have your boyfriend talk to him for you. You have to communicate to get things changed. Don't assume anything.

He's a loser, you're not. Obviously, look where his lovely advice got him! He's a 30 yr old idiot! Just don't associate yourself with him.

Well, Just tell him you don't feel important when he calls you that and tell him how you really feel he'll understand.
