The more often you "live in the moment" (instead of dwelling on the past or fretting about the future) the more often you will be able to achieve a state of happiness. Directing your attention to a place of contentment and sustaining that moment is key. The higher your consciousness ascends, the easier it becomes to achieve constant happiness. Yes, it *is* possible, but it takes a lot of conscious effort.

Drugs are the only way to constantly be happy. I think even then you start needed more and more of the drug to keep you at the same level of happiness, so it's impractical. To be truly happy in life I believe you have to have some degree of suffering and times when you aren't happy. You have to go without things that you would think would make you happy. Delayed gratification is what they call it. For example, if you fasted for a week, your meals after the fast would be so much better than they were before the fast even if they are the same foods. Also, say you wanted to learn a language. The study of the language is not enjoyable, but the pride you have after you can understand the language is more enjoyable than if you had just done activities that were fun but required no delay or work to get the fun (such as TV or internet or video games). There is truly a balance when it comes to happiness. You can't be happy all the time, but achieving your goals and going without certain things to do so will make you happier than fleeting fun activities.

I moved to where I am living now four years ago, to find the answer to that question. I'd had a lousy life and had never experienced happiness, that is the absolute truth. I decided that I would start by going somewhere quiet, and we moved out to the middle of nowhere, where we had few neighbours. Then I set about removing, from my life, everything about it that was making me unhappy. It was more of a process of elimination than anything else. I eliminated the strangest things, things that I never even knew were causing me stress and emotional pain, like disability, regret, and bitterness. As time went on, I felt more at peace and I began adding things. It started with things like a new hobby, or a book, or a new friend and before long I had chosen a new career and was back in school in an effort to address poverty as one of my lifelong obstacles. The last three things I eliminated were religion, abusive mother, and domineering boyfriend, and now I find myself better able to focus on studying.

I think that happiness is something for which you have to strive, taking care not to allow things to happen that will threaten that happiness. It isn't easy but it's very rewarding.

i am a happy person. As for constant happiness, things do happen when you feel sadness or judged. Happiness is not something you FEEL all the time, it is a state of mind that you feel most of the time. As for what makes me happy? I don't know, it has always come naturally to me. I think it is because I am one of those people who takes care of herself. If I feel stressed, I stop whatever I am doing and go for a walk (or as soon as responsibly possible). I do things I love everyday. I spend time everyday getting to know myself (not watching t.v. all the time) but just having alone time like yoga, or sitting there watching the cats... etc. I go out camping and get to nature. These things make me happy, so I do them.

You cant be constantly happy . If you think about it you need to know upset and sadness to experiance happiness . Achieving a state of happiness is personal . some turn to religion whereas others turn to lifes simple pleasures (shopping , chocolate , vodka . ) Some say love is happiness . its up to you .

Yeah, I think that you can choose to be content all the time. It's a state of mind that you *decide* to have. It is more difficult for some people to achieve than others tho - just by their nature.

No,you need the lows so you can appreciate the highs.Although i think the Dali lama is happy all the time.Think its got something to do with not being materialistic.As Janis Joplin said "Fredoms just another word for nothing left to lose".

I am happy all the time. I have a lovely girlfriend and don't have unrealistic expectations of life like so many young people do today.
The secret of happiness is learning to appreciate what you have and not worrying about things you don't.

Be content with what you have & with what is. Accept God's plan for you, moan at him if you're not happy (Job did). If you were constantly happy, you wouldn't know the difference...

No, it is not possible. To be happy, you must be sad first, and vice versa. They are the yin and yang. They define one another. It's okay to be sad sometimes. Even with drugs people just break down now and then.
