I have served in the Army and got out and started going to church again and really started being a follower of Jesus. I am considering going into the Marines...but, Marines are trained to kill, kill, kill. That doesn't sound very Christian.

You are confused. There is conflict in your philosophy.
"There is a time for war and a time for peace.
There is a time to kill and a time to heal"

First, I think that you are full of shi*, shi*, shi* and watch to many war movies.

Secondly, of course it is all right for soldiers to be Christians and actually preferred. It is a heavy burden that is placed upon these fine people and your slander of them shows me that, if you were in the Army, never saw any action beyond the mess hall.

Why insult people on the Internet. Just go out and find a couple of US Marines that are just back from Iraq and repeat to them what you just wrote. I'm sure they will give you their opinion.

LOL

Marines are taught to protect our God given rights - they do not just "kill for the heck of it". throughout the old testament people had to fight to protect the rights God has given.

I know a very good amount of Marines. THese men I know - without their faith - could not withstand the horrors they see and are subjected too. If you are seriously concerned and would like to talk to someone - I know a very wonderful man who happens to be a Catholic priest who is also a Marine. While I can not speak for him, I would be more then happy to pass along your email for some communications. He is am amazing and learned man who's scripture knowledge and understanding is not muddled with personal concerns.

God bless you and on both accounts - Semper Fi!

The only time christians are allowed to kill is in times of war and self defense.

One of God's commandments is not to killl and if your conscience won't let you get that close, the military is not an option. My other thought would also be that every war is somehow a religious one...what side are you are on...mans/government or God's.

There is nothing in Scripture that prevents Christians from defending themselves. By extension, if you become a Marine, you would be defending yourself whilst defending your country. Go for it and Semper Fi!
