Bucca di Beppo Italian Restaurant; there are few around in the area but I recommend one in downtown, on Rush and Grand. Food is served family style and meant to be shared; given that, the price is not bad either.

If you could be more specific on where you are going, it would help. Downtown: Ed Debevicks is always a fun place to go (with older children Tweens), Rainforest Cafe is great! Good food! Google for coupons before you go. Watertower has a great cafe style place where each person can go from kiosk to kiosk with a "Credit card" to swipe for whatever food they take. It is great for picky eaters! Otherwise, I am not sure if you are going to be North, West, south or what....

Depending on the location you wish to go, Dave's Italian in Evanston. Family friendly (in fact it can get quite noisy on the weekends). Everybody goes for the thin crust pizza, which is good, but everything on the menu is freshly made and delicious. Not expensive, either.

outstanding! you're saying no chains and that i imagine each and every answerer listed chains! In downtown Chicago i'd really propose Ed Debevics. also, Wildfire. somewhat on the pricy aspect is Harry Carey's. Any of the Lettuce Entertain you crew of eating places will be solid. you would possibly want to google their cyber web web site. savour your holiday.

When you say family nobody does it better than a good Scandi-
navian buffet. Tre Kronor at 3258 W. Foster is highly rated along
with Ann Sather who has a few locations on the North side.

you have to go to Loumanatii's (i don't think I spelled that right), there is a bar there, but it has it's own seperate room...they are best known for deep dish chicago style pizza, ughh, I live in atlanta now, and that is one place I totally miss...also, try the cheese BALLS (not sticks) for an appetizer, they rock... I'll put their website in my source list, you can get the location and see the menu there for more details...HAVE FUN!!!
