I was raised as a laco-ova vegetarian and I still am one. Look at the reasons you wish to be vegetarian. Will those reasons allow you to be a Pollo vegetarian? Pollo vegetarians include seafood and poultry in their diet.
If you wish not to eat chicken, you can try and see if you like some of the chicken substitutes on the market. You can ask your grocer to direct you to the meat substitute section(s) of the store.
You could try the aversion method. I remember a field trip we took once in high school to a chicken slaughter house. I will not go into all the details, but the way it smelled and what I saw, if I was not a vegetarian then, I would have been after that visit, at least as far chicken was concerned.
I hope perhaps some of this may be helpful, I know everyone is different. In any case I wish you the best.

If you are having trouble with chicken specifically, then start reducing the amount and frequency you eat it. You can use soy foods with chicken flavor as others have suggested. (frozen nuggets are pretty convincing).
You need to take it slow, don't try and just cut off all meats. You will end up craving them and falling in every time. It took me about a year to become a vegetarian. I have already stopped eating pork and seafood except fish. I started with red meats, then chicken, turkey and at the end fish. You could make a plan and set dates for when will you stop eating this and that. Just don't go and stuff yourself before that date. Reduce gradually that's the key.
Start eating new things, open up your palate and discover things that taste just as good. A good eggplant parmigian, a nicely cooked portobello mushroom, mmmmm. Also remember that you need to replace the protein from meat with grains (beans, chickpeas, almonds, nuts, etc.)
Ultimately, you need to have a solid conviction that being a vegetarian is best for you.
Been a vegetarian since 1992. With time you learn to ignore that fried chicken aroma.

First you need to decide if you really want to become 1. Maybe something is holding you back. Well why do u want to be a vegetarian? Because you like animals and you feel they shouldn't get eaten? Well if u like chicken i say eat it. If u care more for the animals than u care more for chicken then you shouldn't be eating them. Maybe just eat chicken and mo other meat. If you know you deffenatley you want to be a vegetarian just think of the poor chicken that was killed just to feed you. : (

I'm not sure why based on your user name you would ask this question in the religion section, but whatever....
I know a few vegetarians, and some of them do eat poultry and eggs, too. Then there are more strict types. So it seems to me that it probably is dependant on your actual reasons for being a vegetarian - like if its because you can't stomach the killing of animalsl for food, then i quess you wouldn't want to be in the "its ok for chicken" veggie group.??

When I was in University, I ate chicken for dinner for nearly 2 years straight. I used to love the bird. NOT ANY MORE. Now I eat it 1 a month at most.

Maybe there's something in that chicken you really need or crave! (And I say this as a vegetarian who is allergic to eggs and chicken.)
You can always try chicken substitutes like Quorn. There are others, but I think Quorn has the best taste and texture.
Regardless, don't beat yourself up over it if you like chicken. You're getting good lean protein (if you don't fry or "smother and cover" it.)

You are probably craving protein. If you really can't deter your mind from eating it (just think of the conditions it lived in before it was brutally murdered), look for organically grown, free range, grain-fed chicken. Okay, it may be expensive, but at least it won't have any nasty steroids that are put in your body! Also, you could try eating lots of nuts. I am quite partial to Hazelnuts.
Hope I helped!

Why do you think you need to resist chicken? You dont... I mean unless you just REALLY want to say "Im a vegetarian" there's no need to get rid of anything you like to eat.

I have been a vegetarian for almost 2 years now. Pretty soon you'll stop thinking about even wanting chicken or any other meat. It just wont really be appetizing. =] Good luck!

I love chicken and I do eat it, but once I saw a picture of a big pile of cut-off chicken feet that nearly made me hurl. So just picture what it looks like where they kill all of these chickens.
