Hi I have had back pain for close to a year and a half now. I am a 24 year old male. Along with my back pain i have many other symptoms including urinary disburtances and pains that go into my legs etc... The back pain is a dull ache and it NEVER EVER goes away. Recently a family member that i live wiht has been describing the exact same back pain as i have whether or not he has the other symptoms i don't know. Is there anything contagious that could cause this kind of back pain. I have been to many doctors with no result. Negative blood tests all around including stds. They are telling me basically that i am crazy. Anywho any help would be great

Back pain can actually be caused from uti's/bladder infections. Pain going into your legs is sciatica. I would get a second opinion if I were you. Yes, sometimes pain stems from something psychological, but just because this doctor can't find the source, doesn't mean that you are crazy. There are pain clinics all over this great country of ours (USA) for people with chronic pain. Explore all your options, don't live with pain for no reason. As far as the contagous thing, there is some thing that happens to the spine and it is extremly contagious (i can't remember the name of it- I keep thinking encephalitis, but that is the brain thing) and effects the spinal fluid, it goes around colleges a lot. I'm sure you have already been tested for that though because that is so contagious. Also, look into osteoperosis. While you are too young for that, it's not impossible- see an orthopedic dr. Anyways, I do wish you the best of luck!

I wish I could offer some help. I do understand where you are coming from. I have suffered from some type of leg pain for the past 7 months. I have had MRI's, X-Rays, Ultrasounds and still no results. I am currently undergoing Physical therapy for Iliotibula band syndrome. And I am on Percoset every 6 hours for pain. We don't know if I have ITB, just guessing and seeing if PT works. I hope for you to find a different doctor, one who will listen, and search for answers for you. Just don't give up! I found a doctor that would help search for answers finally by being admitted to the hospital through the ER for heart palpitations and dehydration. Also, what helped me was giving this doctor a "pain diary" of what the pain felt like 1-10, when it happened, what helped, what didn't help. Good luck.

no back pain isnt contagious. sounds like its your kidneys....drink plenty of fluids and cranberry juice and tell your dr to give you a referral to a renal doctor. your other family member may just be going through the same symptoms because they need plenty of fluids and cranberry juice also....if its kidney stones it does run in the family
