Because they haven't been taught, and as adults, not corrected. If I come across someone rude, I let them know--I don't give a damn who they are.

Most people are selfish and greedy. So, you and your time aren't important only their is. I believe too much TV and Movies put the spot light on the few and not the many. Lost of religion for many, also has a lot to do with it. Because one of greatest teachings is treat others the way you would want to be treated. But for some, it's more like entertainment to ridicule others vs helping them. What ever the reason, I have also noticed it.

I would say because parents aren't parenting. They seem to be more interested in being a "friend" than a parent.

Being a parent means more than giving birth to a child. It means teaching that child to behave and when necessary eliciting punishment to fit the misbehavior.

Part of being a parent is to provide for a successive generation to assure continuation of a society. If children aren't raised to recognize and observe the rules of society then we end up with a bunch of "thugs" who have no respect for themselves or anyone else.

Part of it is a legacy of the permissive 70s. Part is the fault of parents neglecting to teach the kids and leaving it to Tupac and other pop celebrities. Oprah and that gang ridiculed traditional mores' but had nothing of value to replace them with.

Because the media are always giving the spotlight and attention to people who are rude and ignorant.

A perfect example of this is Kobe Bryant.

I don't think that's true. You tend to get what you expect, what you focus on, and what you give away. So now as you fix those three aspects, you'll find everyone is very helpful and accommodating. I do.
