I dont know all the medical terms but I have ways to help you get through it. I use dove soap because it gives your skin moisture. Ivory and Dial are not your friends! don't ever use them. Also use baby oil gel when you first get out the shower! Don't dry off just slap it on so it will mix with the water and enter your pores for long term moisture and it cuts down being greasy! Then you can use a lotion for extra moisture. The point I am trying to make is that you try to keep your skin moist as much as possible! Next for you face, aloe vera gel works excellent esp if you are prescribed medications that may dry your face out. Eucerin is also a cream I use on my face at night so that I won't have to be greasy faced during the day! As far as the creams he give you...he should have told you that it will always come back! It is tricky if you use too much you can make the inflammation worse and if you don't use it enough it will have a affect as well. So just know your body and how it reacts to the medications. Taking multi vitamins and vitamin E oil being used in your scalp helps to prevent it from occuring in your hair and helps to smooth out any marks on your skin from the disease! Lastly if you have eczema on your hands don't put your hands in dish soap bleach or any other chemicals without using glove that fit because it will turn into an infection and will only get worse!I hope you find this helpful!

I have bad eczema too, I know EXACTLY what you mean about raw hamburger! When its bad it blisters, sometimes it looks like burns, bumps, red, raw, cracked.
I have creams up the wazoo and some of them just seem to irritate my skin more. If you're using a corisone cream, use it SPARINGLY, if I put to much it makes it worse.
Here's some things I do, it works for me. Wear soft cotton gloves when having a hard time to stop scratching. I've had my boyfriend tape them to my wrists so I still have flesh when I wake up. Keep the skin clean and dry as possible, if it seems to oozy, I put a little cornstarch on it. If I can feel my pulse in it, I put ice on it. If it's not bleeding I use Witch Hazel.
The last thing is really off the wall and probably not an option for you....
I work in a pet store and we have a small parrot that's been there for a year, she really likes me and will preen (clean) me - normal parrot stuff. She can pick every last piece of dead skin off my eczema without making it worse or bleed. She picks it out of my scalp when its on my head, it feel really good after.
Other then that, try a very "i'm allergic to the world" moisturizer, don't use very hot water. Try washing with Spectro-Jel (sp?) keep it open to the air if you can, pat your skin dry, don't rub it (all the time). And of course "avoid stress" - like its so easy!
The creams will treat the eczema but not the reason that it broke out in the first place. Until you remove the cause, it won't stop.
Good luck, its really difficult I know!

Eczema is usally a result of something that's going on inside your body. Doctors perscribe cortisone but not only is cortisone terrible for you it only treats the symptoms, not the cause. My son has struggled with eczema and it was caused by different things. Fabric softner, cats etc. Try to find out what's causing it and then start treating your body on the inside. I gave my son live acidophilis as well as omega 3 and 6. The case with the fabric softener didn't clear up right away when I quit using it. The chemical was in his body and causing the eczema. When I started using the nutrients that I mentioned it cleared up within a month. This was all with the guidance of a trained person from the health food store. There's also a cream called derma med that works wonders. It's just as effective as cortisone, but is completely natural. Here's a link. I used the all purpose one in the green tube. It works wonders.

My son has not been bothered with eczema since I did all these things. I don't use fabric softener anymore!!

Eczema is a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the upper layers of the skin. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent or recurring skin rashes characterized by redness, skin edema, itching and dryness, with possible crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing or bleeding. Areas of temporary skin discoloration sometimes characterize healed lesions, though scarring is rare.

There are some good tips here among the answers. Dove soap works great for me too. One thing I've noticed is that a HOT shower is a no-no. I break out worse with really hot showers or when washing my hands with really hot water. Good luck.

My brother in law has that real bad. He would scratch until he got a staph infection. Try using some anti-bactrial soap to bath in. He started that and so far so good. Good luck.
