if you are going to get a flat iron, you should just invest in a good one. sure you can go get a hot tools or conair for $40 and it will work fine for a little while, but if you spend more now and get a platform (which is the best straightener out there!) it will last alot longer and do a better job making it worth the extra money in the long run. but if you simply can't afford it, make sure you get one with ceramic plates. these are less damaging. most importantly, always use a cilicon product (i.e. biosilk or enjoy's shine spray) to protect your hair from the heat!

Don't use a hot straightner or flat iron, it'll start to REALLY damage your hair. I have very wavy, kind of frizzy hair and when I get out of the shower I towel dry my hair a little, and then I spray the Tigi Bed Head frizz control straightner stuff. Just use a little, it goes a long way. Then I brush it in and blow dry my hair. I blow dry my hair holding it slightly above my head, blowing down, brushing straight down while blowing. This straigtens it. The bed Head is in a tall green bottle, it sprays and you can find it in any hair salon. I usually pick mine up in the little hair/ nail salon that they have in walmart. It's $20-25 and lasts forever. This is SO much better than ironing your hair.
