Honey that's your career path. I am in college now and I am majoring in mass communications holding a 3.9 and a four year graduating senior, in which everyone in my family thought I should go to law school etc. But I ended working for one internship for two years and an opportunity to work at Essence magazine for a summer! You control your destiny. If teaching is what you like to do then do it! That may be your calling! You can be the best teacher in your state or do something extraordinary because you did it for passion and not for the pleasure of others!

Follow your dreams. Your mother already had her chance to follow her own dreams and live her own life. If she doesn't want to help you to follow your dreams or continues to try to manipulate you or control your life with her finances...get away from her. Find a way to make your dreams happen for you. You don't need her holding you back anyway. Move out, become responsible for yourself and move on...Your Mother can be proud of you or she can be a drama queen about it and pretend she doesn't know what a selfish person she is...either way, you'll be better off away from her trying to downplay your goals.

Listen to your heart, my grandmother told my mother not to be a teacher, my mom listened, and wasted 10 years of her life as a accountant, she was miserable, she went back to college and got the teaching certification, and she is happier now then when she was at the bank.

You follow your dreams on what you want to do. She can't stop you from fulfilling for wants. Don't worry. It's your life and you can make your own decisions. Talk to your mother again. And tell her that it's perfectly reasonable to be a teacher because YOU want to do it.

if your mom doesn't want u to be a teacher then wut does she want? i think that you are the only who knows what is best for yourself. You should do what you want, and what you have most interest in. Because your gonna be the one teaching the kids the kids not your mom. Also you should discuss it with your mom a little more, and try to get her to understand why this is the career choice you would like..

sit down and tell your mother that she should support you no matter what you want to be, you can always apply for a grant, and find a friend and move on your own, but do what you want and don't let no one change your mind. tell her sorry mom thats what i want , what you want me to do , why don't you go for that. be honest with her at all times. good luck. its your life not hers or anyone else.

I can tell you from personal experience that if you live your life to please your mother and not yourself that you will end up completely miserable. I did what my parents wanted for years until I just couldn't take it anymore. Since I've decided to follow my own path in life, I have been much happier.

well you should do what you think is right for you, it's not your mums life it's yours. In this world you've got to take every good oppurtunity and grab it and don't let go, i mean this is your life do what YOU want with it. Don't let your unsupporting mother get in the way of that.
