I'm looking for foods that will last long and don't need any heat to eat. I've come up with a small list:
-Tuna
-Power/granola bars
-Maybe nuts (salt might make me too thirsty)
-Candy Bars
What else?

Things I think I should avoid:
-Salty crackers (b/c they'll make me too thirsty)
Basically, anything with salt?

n/e body kno of a good website that lists things needed in an emergency?

Canned beans are a good source of protein. Canned fruit for your colon, gotta keep it happy. You can also get canned chicken too. Basically anything that comes in a pouch or a can. Don't forget water.

Well.. I don't have any sites but things like:
Water/Gatorade
Umm...
Avoid CANDY BARS!! They might make you hyped up then make you all tired and not so strong
avoid all those "energy drinks" they're mainly sugar and won't do any good... only damage to your body.. Power bars and really good, i know because i can eat 3 a day and stay active for a long time! Espeacially when I'm competing and can't eat a lot. Well... dried fruit should be pretty good too...I don't really know.. Im only 10.

Well, in the military they have these thinggs call MREs which are Meals Ready to Eat. You could purchase those and just store those cuz they last for a real longtime and are airsealed and come with a water heater.....just stay away from Cheese Omelet.

Then again who knows if you'd even like them, I guess you have to try before you buy.

Canned fruits. Graham crackers - I found them at Costco in indiviual packs so they'll stay fresh. Ramen noodles -you don't have to cook them. Powdered milk or the type that doesn't require refrigeration. I'd save some sternos too in case you do need heat.

The website is called Camping Survival.com and they have a self heating emergency food pack that is wonderful! The basic cost is $79.95 but hey, if you ever have to use the pack it more than pays for itself.

maybe filtered water and dry non-fat milk, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables. Keep in mind many foods that will last a long time do contain a heavy sodium content!

I think you can to redcross.org and look for a disaster kit list.

You could even buy one but I think to make one might be cheaper.

Don't forget about first aid!!

See websites below.
