My hair is naturally black, but black is boring. I'm dying to do something about it. I want to either colour it completely or at least get highlights on them. What do you suggest?

My skin is a medium olive and my hair is jet black. I have dark eyesbrows as well, and my eyes are my best features.
What will look good on me?

Since black can be very difficult to lighten without going to a salon and paying WAY too much to do it, and also because you probably wouldn't want to completely change it's color due to your darker eyebrows, my best suggestion is to get highlights.

There is a process called color infusion that you can get at a lot of different hair salons, and it costs a great deal less, and does no damage to your hair, than getting it stripped, and recolored.
What the process does is exactly like highlights, but they use colors closest to your own hair color, and go up shade by shade, to reds and golds and browns, and use anywhere from three to six different shades streaked throughout your hair. The result is dramatic and beautiful. Absolutely striking with someone of your coloring. (I have olive skin myself and would die to have black hair to start with) It will definitely achieve the look you want by making your hair appear to be lighter and naturally highlighted, as if by the sun. You will also be able to dye it back to black if you ever decide to do so without damage to your hair.

Good luck in your decision!

Honestly, with naturally black hair, your best bet would be going to a salon and asking the hairdresser what they think would be best. They're usually REALLY smart when it comes to that! With naturally black hair, dying it yourself could be messy and the results could be far off from what you want. My boyfriend has naturally black hair and he tried to dye it blonde on his own and it ended up orange! Needless to say he shaved his head.

Even if you go to a salon and they dye your hair for you, they can usually give you tips on hair care, that you might be able to keep in mind if you want to dye your hair yourself.

Try a really nice high-end salon like Aveda. It's a real treat for yourself! I go to Aveda and they do an excellent job! Last time I went I told them to do what they wanted with my hair and I haven't stopped getting compliments! Trust me, they're excellent!

Good luck!

i have jet black hair to but i love my hair!! But wat i have done is highlighted it a goldish brown....it goes great with black...or you should dye it a chocolate brown if you want to do all over hair color..i dont suggest going blond because since your eyebrows are dark it will make them look thinker and dying your hair alot lighter then it is it damages your hair. And dying your eyebrows can cause blindness so dont color your eyebrows your self.....get it professionally done!!!! Hope i helped you!!!

bright red highlight or a golden blonde highlights, If you want strip your hair of the color and try a diffrent color and then dye your eyebrows to make them match.

Try anything its only hair and you can redye it if you dont like it.. =)
